The manufacturer is always responsible to send out recall notices, however they can take a long time to get to you if you did not register with Ford that you are the new owner. It will be a hard fight if the reason it caught fire isnt covered under a recall. Plus getting a second hand vehicle, you never know whats been done to it by previous owners

My 2006 Ford Taurus sitting in carport an hour after driving caught on fire under the hood for no apparent reason. Car was previously running good with no problems. Any recalls for this?

If the fire was caused by the speed control switch failure there is a recall for that but that will need to be inspected to determine the cause as that fault has been on the recall books since 1999

My husband's 2092 f150 spontaneously caught fire while parked. Who is responsible for contacting us about recalls? Ford? Or the used car dealership we purchased it from? Who do I sue?

First you have to prove it is a spontaneous combustion, then why and where the fire started and then start to sue, knowing they have better lawyers than you can afford.
I don't know how the lay works in your country, but where I live we don't have a chance to get anything when a car caught fire, unless it was insured for that.

Bought 3 months ago, 110,000 k assured by the dealership that the vehicle was certified but now the fuel tank has rusted through (major leaking noticed one evening). Needs a whole new fuel tank. Wouldn't...

Rusty gas tanks do not come under the certified safety check issues as far as safety check is concerned but if these cars had issues before then I would certainly check it out. As far as recalls are concerned. Did you get a warranty when you purchased the vehicle? As far as catching a rusty tank they are very hard to spot as you have the straps and the top of the tank is against the floor boards. Wishing you the best of luck.

My cruise control stopping all of a sudden

I'm not at the shop right now to pull TSBs. But I believe if memory serves me right there is a recall on the cruise. I believe it can cause a fire. STOP USING IT UNTIL YOU KNOW FOR SURE!!! I will check in the morning when I get to my dealership.

I have a 1995 F150 4x4 with a 5.0 that caught fire right at the master cylinder (or that area). It didn't burn everything just a few wires and parts on the firewal and fenderwell. I just need a picture or...

Check to see if the 05s28 recall was performed. There is a recall to inspect the speed control deactivation switch on the master cylinder for leaking causing a fire. Contact Ford if the switch was the cause of fire. Good luck.

Have the cruise control module checked. They recalled some about improper wiring and fire hazards when the vehicles are parked; but in motion problem might cause vehicle to act like cruise was kicked in.

I had the same problem on my 2001 ford 150 supercrew. My cruise control went out first, then a couple months later I could not put my truck in gear and the windows wouldn't work. Then the #15 fuse (5 amp) kept blowing. One day when I went to work the truck caught fire. The problem was the speed control module. It was under a recall. I took it to ford and since I did not take it to them for the recall they only covered the parts that was initially in the recall. I had to buy the other parts.
