I have a 1998 cadillac saville none of the windows will roll down checked all fuses under the back seat and under the hood all fine.

The power windows on your vehicle are controlled by a electronic module .
Each power window is connected to a permanent magnet motor. The motor raises or lowers the glass when the door module applies voltage to the motor. The direction the motor turns depends on the polarity of the supply voltage provided by the associated door module. All four doors have their own separate modules.
A serial digital communications link, called the simple bus interface, is used for communications between door modules and the driver's door power window switches. The use of serial digital communications allows the use of a single wire to convey switching information between the LH front power window switch and the driver's door module. The serial communication is also used to transmit switching information from the driver's door module to the other three door modules.
The door modules apply battery voltage of the correct polarity to the respective window motor when any local, or power door lock switch, UP switch is operated, driving the window up. Battery voltage is applied to the respective window motor in the opposite polarity when any local, or power window switch, DOWN switch is operated, driving the window down.

The first place to start when diagnosing a problem like ths would be to hook up a factory scan tool , checking DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes. Without a factory scan tool ,forget it , you have no chance of fixing this . Take it to a cadillac dealer . Could have problem with the
Simple Bus Interface (SBI) Serial Data Link
The simple bus interface is a serial data link. This serial data link replaces vehicle cables between various door modules with a single wire. The same amount of information is sent by multiplexing (time-sharing) data to and from each device over that wire. The serial data signals are referenced to ground. If the simple bus interface is lost, the RFDM, LRDM, and RRDM will enter the sleep mode. With the door modules in sleep mode, no power window operations are possible.

So when i get no bus what can i do

no bus mean its not communcating with the pcm. you can try going to the power dist. box under the hood open it up. In there you'll find at the corner a black cover plug with a screw in the center of it. remove the cover carefully and remove the screw raiseing the plug. Clean that intire plug with clean air such as u would use on a pc, get some dieelectric ggrease and apply and replace if this doesnt help you could very well have to replace the pcm. Oh disconnect battery before tring the above. The dodge delearship did this for me and charges an outrageous amount for ten minutes of work. Not a gauruntee when no bus is present but a start.

1999 dodge caravan no i/p but the millage and prnd21 show for a while but soon shut off thought it was the cluster but replaced it and still the same problem also check engine is on with codes p1698 and...

Both codes you have listed are CCD bus communication faults. I find it very unlikely that the ignition switch is the problem. The first thing I would check is the two 10-way connectors located below the battery tray, one gray and one black. What typically happens is that the battery leaks and drips onto these connectors. The "bus" wires also pass through these connectors. I would recommend a thorough inspection of the connectors, even the back portion where the seal is. Clean with electrical contact cleaner and apply a thin coat of dielectric grease. Also check the wires around the connectors to make sure they have not melted together.

Hi I have a 98 gmc sierra 1500 with 5.7 vortec, recently replaced gas tank and fuel pump engine light came on had obd code po442 change gas line to evap canister to high pressure fuel line light went off,...

It's hard to find these small leaks. If you have a vacuum pump, there are a few tests you can run on the components of the system. See below.

Vapor Canister
See Figure 1

  1. Apply a length of hose to the lower tube of the purge valve assembly and attempt to blow air through it. There should be little or no air should passing into the canister.

If the canister is equipped with a constant purge hole, a small amount of air will pass into the canister.
  1. Using a hand-held vacuum pump, apply a vacuum of 15 in. Hg (51 kPa) to the control vacuum (upper) tube. If the vacuum does not hold for at least 20 seconds, the diaphragm is leaking. Replace the canister.
  2. If the diaphragm holds vacuum, attempt to blow air through the hose connected to the PCV tube while vacuum is still being applied. An increase of air should be observed. If no increase is noted, the canister must be replaced.

Fig. Fig. 1: Cross-section of the vapor canister

Fuel Tank Pressure Control Valve

  1. Attach a length of hose to the tank side of the valve assembly and try to blow air through it. Little or no air should pass into the canister.
  2. Using a hand-held vacuum pump, apply vacuum equivalent to 15 in. Hg (51 kPa) to the control vacuum tube. If the diaphragm does not hold vacuum, the diaphragm is leaking. Replace the valve.
  3. If the diaphragm holds vacuum, attempt to blow air through the hose connected to the valve while vacuum is still being applied. Air should pass. If no air is noted, the valve must be replaced.

Thermostatic Vacuum Switch
  1. With engine temperature below 100°F (38°C), apply vacuum to the manifold side of the switch. The switch should hold vacuum.
  2. Start and continue to run the engine until the engine temperature increases above 122°F (50°C). The vacuum should drop off.
  3. Replace the switch if it fails either test.

Want to replace a broken winshield on 74 volkswagom bus

there are two types of seals on these busses. if it the american type it has a bead pushed in around the outside, sometime chrome coloured. if it has, pull the bead out.
If not you have saved a step.

From the inside of the bus gently and evenly push the screen out. Have somone with a blanket to recieve the glass "be aware the old original screens are not laminated so you have green house glass coming out so yake care" once out, peal out the ols seal and put with the glass (in the bin).

Get your new seal and fit around your new glass. with the seam at the top.

now is a good time to check the bus for rust, its a common problem to have rust around the windscreen. if there is sort it befor you get leaks. and remove shorp edges to prevent damaging your new seel.

you will need some strong thin rope. about 5mm diameter is good.

with washing up liquid, put the rope around the seel where the metal on the bus will sit. tuck the rope in all the way around and cross over at the bottom of the screen.

you will need you mates again now

if you hold the screen up against the bus and rest the bottom of the seel against the bus. you now use the two ends of the you pull them the seal lip will lift over the metal of the bus. pull the rope round slowly using a rounded spoon handle to lift over any bits of seel which slip off.

you mates will be out sie persuading the windscreen in by applying even presure down and inwards. when the seel is all the way round you may need to tap the outside of the screen round the outside with your hands to settle the screen in to its new position.

job done

No BUS on odometer

I used to have the NoBUS show up on the odometer also, but always while driving. The immediate fix was a sharp rap on the top of the cluster with my fist. To fix it permanently, I removed the cluster, cleaned the contacts both cluster and harness with spray contact cleaner, then applied some dielectric grease to prevent any further corrosion.
