That is true you could have a burnt valve or you could also have the lobes on your cam shaft have extensive wear and that'll make it pop back up to through the carburetor.. It will sound like popcorn popping in the carburetor. Good luck on the cam job and you're better off to go ahead replace lifters and all the gaskets on top of motor especially the distributor seal. Good luck and have fun with that. Just out of curiosity what kind of vehicle do you have?Until about 10 years ago I was in the auto mechanic!

Burnt or stuck valves would do this. Do a compression test.

How can I stop oil from coming from my dipstick?

Depends on the cause.
Blow-by is when oil blows by the rings in the cylinders into the combustion chambers or compression blows by the rings into the crankcase. It can also be caused when too much pressure builds up in the crankcase because of a venting problem.
So blow-by can cause smoke out the tailpipe from oil burning with gasoline, or oil collecting in the air cleaner, or blowing out a seal or other place like your dipstick tube.
If it is caused by worn piston rings, the rings have to be replaced.
If it is a venting problem, you need to open up the vent, like the PCV valve or the air intake port.
If you remove the cap where you add oil and there is a vacuum when the engine is running, the venting system is working. If oil blows out the hole, there is too much pressure in the crankcase.

What are the sighs of a bad head gasket

there are a few ways that a head gasket can go bad.
1. it can blow between cylinders, which causes rough running.
2. it can blow between water and oil passages, which will either get you engine oil into your radiator or antifreeze into your engine oil. you will be able to see these as light brown froth on the dipstick, or when you open your radiator you will see the froth there too.
3. it can blow from the cylinder to the exterior which will cause rough running again and loud repetative hiss when the engine is running.
4 it could blow from a coolant or oil passage to the exterior, which will cause a coolant or oil leak where the block meets the head.

hope this helps ~ Zach

Vw chico keep blowing gasket of oil filter

There is a relieve valve inside the part that holds your oil filter. It sounds like it may be stuck open which causes too much oil pressure to be relieved on the filter causing it to blow. So this art needs to be taken off and inspected.

Why does my truck backfire thru the carborater when it is hot outside?

A backfire is caused when your intake valve/s aren't closing completely before ignition in the cylinder. This ignites any fuel/air mixture left in the intake manifold. Fine tune your timing.

My car keeps stalling. I had my oil changed, oil filter and fuel filter, put carborater cleaner in the gas tank ...nothing has helped. Any ideas? I haven't had a tune up in 3+ years, could it just

It could need plugs, or something else. Plugs are designed to last 100,000 miles but no guarantee.
Often times stalling is caused by a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve. I would have a mechanic check the valve and also see if there are any trouble codes stored in the computer.

Truck will run only when i pour gas into carborater once it uses gas in carborater it stops firing

This sounds like a problem with the fuel pump. I would suggest that you check the fuel pressure. it should be 60psi. If not...fuel pump most likely the problem.
