I have a 93 MB 2.6 190E . went to junkyard, got same tranny, spent 500 bucks to replace. Drives fine. No metal shavings on mine either but changed tranny, ok.

Base on the information gaven it seems that your forward clutch pack is worn, thats the reason you have seen that metal shaving in the transmission pan.So get your transmission repair.

sometimes its behind the alternator real close to the firewall. Find the bigger of the two hoses and pipes the low side is always bigger. Also the cap is blue and the fitting for the charging can will only fit on the right valve.

It is located on the transmission with a vaccume line going to it. There is a clamp with a bolt that holds it to the transmission. It is an easy fix.
