How do you verify a bad fuel injector in the spider assembly with a scan tool and fuel pressure guage

A scan tool will not help. If a bad fuel injector in the spider assembly the fuel pressure will drop off to 0 or close to it after a lengthy sit.

I would first do a fuel pressure test first to determine if the fuel is indeed doing its job. 4cyl. could be bad injector, 6 cyl has spider injector assembly and fuel pressure regulator which I would check the fuel pressure regulator after the fuel pressure test.

Oil smells like gas


leaking injectors
get them cleaned,
or the PCM signals to injectors might be wrong.
or crazy high fuel pressure can case them to leak.
fuel in oil is bad, can cause engine bearing spin, (seizure)
id get in fresh oil, first then diagnose the cause.

was CEL lamp glowing driving? yes, bingo. SCAN IT !
if not, id check fuel pressure (at spec?>)
the id check that each injector clicks, with stethoscope or special tool i have, just for that.
and id do an injector leak down test at same time same tool
as pressure guage test.
the injector balance test. i have videos of all.
ask.
Scan it means, connect OBD2 scan tool to car, and scan for errors.
your car has advanced brains, use a newer scan tool for best results.
new tools , see newer factory only, extended errors. that are
really help full in diagnosis.

or possible sticking spider injector need to do a injector balance test but they are common for bad fuel pressure regulators they are located inside intake on injector assembly

97 s10 4.3 vortec..flooding when engine is hot. Went from 24 mpg to 13. Changed fuel pressure regulator. egr valve.Plugs,wires,cap and rotor button. Fuel pressure stays between 55 and 61 at all speeds,...


The fact the fuel pressure does not hold after the pump stops is a big problem indicating a fuel leak into the upper manifold, which would cause the flooding. This leak could have several causes, but since the problem is still there after replacing the regulator, it sounds like the problem is with the injector in the spider assembly.
It sounds like you have a design 1 spider assembly, with only one fuel injector distributing fuel to the six poppets. If that is the case, I suggest you try replacing the entire assembly (which will include a new regulator) with the Delco design 2 version which has injectors on each poppet.

1996 s10 pickup 4.3 vortex . I have goog fuel pressure . I have ignition .It will run on starting fluid . Injectors will not fire . Replaced spider injectors and crankshaft poisition sensor .


replcace filter? ,you say you have good pressure.have you checked your pressure with a guage? i had pressure but not enuff,really 96 4.3 vortex needs to be pretty high(check requierments at parts store) fuel pump is in the tank, cheapest one @ 235.00

I have a 1995 gmc jimmy 4x4 i check fuel pressure an the voltage


a simple 12vdc will not due, it needs a pulse signal from the computer. a full 12vdc could fry the injectors, but the spider assemblys in them v6's are always a @$!$@ up design. i have encountered alot of them with bad pcm, or the spider.

94 jimmy turns but wont start, I replaced the fuel pump and


see if your getting fuel to the top, find the fuel rail on the top of the motor you will see a bleeder valve push in the the little serator valve and see if fuel comes out. if not the pressure regulator could be bad. if none there take the filter loose on the pump side and see if fuel comes out there. i believe this has the spider type injector setup on it and this could be bad.

How to manually get a trouble code out of a 95 blazer with vortec


The vortec motor has been known for the so caller spider assembly which is the fuel injection set up inside the intake manifold going bad.The regulator starts leaking wich puts extra fuel into the motor.If that is it you should change the whole assembly.
