U joints? Take it to a real trans shop to get a diagnosis. If you replaced the blown fuse already thqt shouldnt be it. It could be anything from your brakes clunking on something to the drive shafts or cv axles.

Do you mean clunks when put in reverse and the vehicle is rear wheel drive, the problem could be the connection between drive shaft and transmission. Don't remember the name of the piece these have a wear issue.

Heard a clunk while driving diesel ford excursion now when drive and reverse don't work....any ideas what problem is?

If it is a four wheel drive check your tail shaft or drive line by securing the vehicles front wheels jack up the rear tires and in park try to rotate the drive line if you can hear the transmission sound like it is going into gear the transfer case could be damaged! If not a four wheel drive pull the transmission dipstick and look to see if the fluid is dark red or metallic grayish color if so then you're clutch disks inside the tyranny have been worn out and it needs to be rebuilt!

TRANSMISSION

Fuse # 20 or 21 gets power through ignition. This fuse controls PRNDL indicator, speedometer, tach, & will cause transmission to not shift gears correctly. Ours took off in 3rd gear when put in Overdrive & only ran in 3rd gear. If we tried to manually shift thru gears (auto trans), it had 1st, 3rd, reverse. No 2nd or over drive. Replaced ignition. Fixed problem. Root problem was Electric motor that engaged 4 wheel low side was bad. Every time we used 4 Low side it threw power surge through ignition & blew ignition out. Good Luck.

nothing wrong with the transmission that a proper fault code reading will not fix
it is sensor and pressure related and the fault codes will tell you which are faulty probably a TCM fault or wiring and connections

a transmission that has wear tends to leak and a fluid change may not help instead make matters worst and the loud sound is bad news yes the transmission build pressure and blew it it's not common to blow fusses that unless is the fuse for the transmission or they disturbed any wire harness.

In your owners manual there is a phone number to file a complaint to the corporation. Do that first of all. I owned a Hyundai that did very strange things although I had strange braking problems which was repaired at a shop of my preference and was reimbursed.
The problem with yours has to be an internal transmission problem. Nothing will be found unless the transmission is removed and completely torn apart for inspection. More than likely a brass bushing is egged out making the trans to act so eractic

Transmission keeps blowing.

I would take it to an autopart store and have the computer pulled for any trouble codes. Most autopart stores do this for free.

The computer does control the transmission for shifting gears. Any trouble codes will tell you if the transmission has a bad sensor or bad solenoid.

You may not need a new TCM with any luck. I would try unhooking the battery for a few minutes to see if it will reset the TCM.
TCM = They Cost Much $. If you need to replace it you should be able to get one at a local parts house - avoid the dealership if you can. I wouldn't trust on-line stuff for this unless you know the source.

The loss of 2nd 4th and reverse is a common failure on the 4L60E. What happens is the reaction shell has separated from the sun gear. Often a whole transmission is cheaper simply because the remanufactured unit from GM are reasonably priced and the warranty is 3yr 100,000 miles.
