The engine is being over fueled. Usually caused by 1 or more cylinders not working. It can also be caused by a stuck open injector or valve timing not correct

Shutter transmisson problem

is there enough oil left with the additives, seriously if the problem persists it is more likely to be a crack in your clutch drum or band

1997 cavalier, 140,000 miles. Check engine light and oil light on. was driving on the freeway and heard a popping sound, when id step on the gas it did not accelerate but opposite, it would sliw down....

I am suspecting that the cam chain/belt failed. Check for spark first. You can do this easily by pulling one of the spark plug wires and hooking it up to a known good spark plug. Ensure that the spark plug base is grounded to the car frame or engine and have someone try starting while you look at the gap on the plug. If you have spark, then likely you have a fuel delivery problem, but my money is that you do NOT have any spark going to the plug. There can be a plethora of reasons for this to occur, but at this mileage I would guess a broken timing chain/belt...particularly as you describe a "pop" prior to failure. This is not an easy repair for someone not used to living under the hood of a car. Call around different shops in your area and ask about estimate cost for timing belt repair. Evaluate from there. Good luck!

Well you dont have a vapor lock sound like you are plugged up you might have to go to a muffler shop to see if the catalytic is plugged before you do go there check the air filter

Oil light comes on goes out when I step on gas then when I let goe of gas pedal light and dinging sound comes on and just keeps going.I have had a oil change done and keep checking oil and it is full

If the van is running normally otherwise then it may be a bad oil pressure sensor or more likely an idle control sensor. This could potentially be a DIY (trial and error) for someone comfortable with working on cars, but I would take it to a shop ( or a dealer that youn trust) and tell them to check out the sensors. Good luck!

Sounds like you blew the motor. Lack of oil will wreck your bearings and the motor is toast. I would get it looked at buy someone who knows a thing or two.
