This is normal. The computer goes in to default mode and turns on the fan/s.

A pontiac montana ? There are three relay's that control your cooling fans ! unplug what sensor ? The engine coolant temp. sensor is an input to the PCM - engine computer . When temp. reaches 213 degrees the PCM energizes the relays , depending on low or high speed . Using a scan tool to see if the PCM will turn on the fans an checking engine coolant temp.data is the right way to diagnose this . Relay Driven Dual Cooling Fan Diagnostics

1997 Chevy Lumina 3.1 engine. The cooling fans aren't coming on tell the car heats up to over 250 degrees.

Did you check for applicable trouble codes? Anything? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free.
Check the coolant temp sensor, if you haven't already? Some makes and models if you turn on the ac, the fan/s will run. If you unplug the coolant temp sensor, the fan may run.
I might want to use non--contact infrared temp gun just to double-check temp gage.
Have you ever checked thermostat or coolant flow through the radiator. I understand it only heats at idle.

The cooling fan will not shut off. The engine is not over heating

check to see if the cooling fan temp sensor is plugged in or not. usually if the temp sensor for the fan is unplugged the system puts the fans into a safe mode that will run the fans to keep the car from overheating if there is other issues by default.

I have a Chevrolet 2005 Suburban and the heating/cooling fan will not cut off unless I disconnect the battery or take out the fuse, any ideas?

most likely your temperature sensor for the fan is stuck on your heating fan will run when the key is off if it is getting a high temperature signal from the switch ,, put it back together and get the fan to run then unplug and plug back in sensors around the thermostat and water pump areas until it stops, then replace that sensor

96 NISSAN ALTIMA HARD TO START WHEN ENGINE IS COLD

This makes sense to me. The computer would send extra fuel to the engine on start up when it sensed it was cold, replacing the old choke system. The cooling fans turning on when you turn the key would tell the computer that the engine was, in fact too hot, and it would not compensate for the cold start up.
If you unplug the heat sensor how does it start? Check the battery voltage. A good battery should read in the area of 13.5 to 14 volts. Start the car and shut it off and re-read the battery voltage. If it doesn't drop any more than 1 volt there's nothing wrong with your battery. You could also go to a shop and get it "load tested" which would be a better test for sure.
If it starts properly with the heat sensor unplugged and the battery checks out, I'd replace the sensor first. It's possible that there is more than one problem contributing to your hard start but you will have to start with what you know for sure is wrong. Hope this helps.

1997 Mercury mystique the engine cooling fan will not operate

it could be the engine coolant sensors on the thermostat housing it controls the fans when they work if your sensor is out you can unplug the sensor while running the motor and if they turn on after a moment(the fans)then the sensor is bad if not make sure your fans work by jumping power to them 12volt

Soon as i turn on my heat my cooling fans come on first

It sounds like you do need a thermostat with your heat shut off and the gauge will raise a little then the car doesn't have that heat drawn from it indicating that you most likely do need a thermostat. As far as the fans coming on immediatly that could be a different problem it is most likely the coolant temperature sensor that tells the fan's when to come on. If this sensor says the coolant is hot the fans will come on immediatly. These are seperate problems as the coolant temperature sensor does not have anything to do with the cabin heating system. You should first check the level of your coolant is full, This could also cause your cabin heating system to perform poorly, and may have adverse effects to the engine cooling system. (fans)
