What is causing both front brakes to lock up

check master cylinder not releasing the brakes. the brake flex hose for each wheel may have collapsed internally. the way to find out is when the brakes don`t release loosen the bleeder screw on the brake caliper if brake fluid squirts out or runs out and the brakes release then the flex hose has collapsed. if the brakes don`t release and no fluid squirts out then the calipers are seized and need replacing. the shuddering is an indication the brake rotors are probably warped and need replacing.

Problem with terrano brakes

sounds like a faulty master cylinder. be careful driving it....
replacement/rebuilt parts are relatively inexpensive.
If you don't know how to bleed brakes, get a mechanic to replace it.

Bakes spongy

You surely don't need to go to a web site to solve that

You need a reoair shop if you don't have personal experience

There could be several issues with the brakes & air in the
system would be the first thing I would check

If you just had it worked on,then they put the problem in there
Brake problems ,with proper preventative maintenance, should
never come about on any vehicle

It is either neglect or improper work that was done

When I turn my lights on my tail lights work but when I hit my brakes the don't light up I have a 2001 vw beetle????

the brake lights don't light up or the taillights don't light up? the brake lights are brighter than the tailights so the tailights won't show up whenbrakes are applied. if no lights work when brakes are applied then check for a bad ground at the light assembly.

Rear brakes are noisy while driving

The job wasn't done correctly, that is obvious

Most places don't remove any rust so parts slide
as they should ,nor do they lube anything

I have worked on brakes for 50 years come july & never
had a noise or hot,no issues

When you say changed out, that's what you got
It is called hanging pads, slap them on & done.

You have brake hoses & claipers to consider, parking
function,etc

If they don't release for some reason, you have heat & noise
Sloppy work

Brakes go all the way to the floor

Don't know about the check engine light, but if brakes go all the way down, you either have a bad leak or the master cylinder has gone bad.
If the car has anti-lock brakes,it needs a mechanic to do the bleeding of the brakes the correct way. don-ohio (:^)

My 1998 plymouth voyager came with abs brake system, can I change it over to manual brakes? If so what is the best way to do this?

To answer specifically, this kindof already happens if your ABS system is not working. When the ABS system is not working your brakes should go into a "manual mode". You could have the ABS unit removed and new brake lines installed, but for a 1998 voyager, I wouldn't bother. Keep in mind though, you don't have anti-lock anymore. So drive this vehicle accordingly. Don't slam on the brakes and be ready to ease up on them if they should cause the tires to slip.

I had rear brakes replace. now the brake lites don't work. does that have anything to do with it.

hi, having the brakes changed have nothing to do with the brakes lites. check underneath of the dash by the upper side of the brake pedal arm .there its a switch with a pin which every time you step on the brakes that pin goes in and out when you release the brakes .that make the lites go off and on.it cost only couple of bucks get it changed.if till not working check the brake wiring. check for power source or loose ground.
