Hi:
Odds are that the wiper switch has fused contact points. I`d be considering replacing it.

What part do I need & how do I fix?

I have a 95 grand marquis and i had the same problem. I fixed mine myself by replacing the wiper motor. The problem was the motor will still work on high but not low. Its an enternal issue on the motor that wont allow it to fully rotate when shut off and its not accepting the low voltage to run on low. My answer is 100% accurate

The wipers turn off on the wind shield up and not under the hood

Seems to be a bad canceling switch in the wiper motor.

My 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis windsheild wipers works well, but when they park its in the up position toward the roof of the car. What is the problem. THanks Joe

There are contacts inside the wiper motor. The electric signal from the steering column is going through to a part inside the wiper motor which is suppose to derail the electric contacts and shut off the wiper. Part of the system is working if the wipers shut off, but the other part which makes the cam inside complete the shut off cycle is not working.

You can check with an autoparts place to see if those small parts are available. Sometimes there are parts in a "Help" rack section that have odd parts like clips or fasteners which may fall off or break and keep a larger part from working (like your wipers). You would still need to get inside the wiper motor to change it.

Wiper motors are available in the Aftermarket or you can save money by using a Salvage yard. Your used wiper was working for many years until it finally broke. I hope my solution is very helpful to you in fixing your vehicle.

I have a 2003 Grand Marquis. The wipers come on

It is part of the problem. The turn stalk in the column also has the wper control. The Autoturn OFF is in the motor. Usually this is a set of contacts or a small box plugged directly into the wiper motor. The small box works the delay feature but can also short and continue to run.

If your wiper has a removable cover you can spray WD40 on it and it may straighten out. If you see the small box, unplug it and see what effect it has. You may need to spray its contact terminals and the mating surfaces it plugs into.

Finally you can back off on the wiper mounting screws, spray WD40 and retighten. Sometimes the motors will lose their ground for the AutoOFF feature.

The turn stalk can also create your problem. Tighten its mounts after removing the plastic column cover.

Rear window will not go back up on my 1994 Grand Marquis. I can hear the motor but the plastic gears may be stripped. Is this a tough problem to fix?

the window regulator needs to be replaced. you need the track and the motor which come as one unit. pick this part up at the salvage yard for about $40. I have replaced both rear regulators in my 94 mercury grand marquis ls

The wipers wnt go down after i turn off the car. they work but juz wnt go down . its for a 2001 grand marquis

A common problem for all fords and mercury's, a little plastic gear in the wiper motor breaks and prevents the wipers from going into park. Ford wants about $250 to fix it, they replace the whole motor. I found one out of an 87 fairmont that worked, but you can find the motor at the parts store for a lot less and it is simple to fix, Hope this helps.
