You might want to try cleaning the EGR valve could be sticking from excess heat. however that type of problem is usually picked up by the OBD2 and should send out a code, but if its minor enough you might not get a code or light yet. good luck but Id give it a try. appreciate a rating

SOURCE: 2001 Ford F150 5.4 runs fine cold, but loses power when hot

hi, i would get the oxygen sensor looked at first as this only starts working when the exhaust reaches a certain temp.
But as your getting the problems when the engine is up to temp then this is what i would look at first it also called a lambda sensor.
Their is no way of testing this yourself but a garage could run a test and tell you if that part is at fault.

The problem is you just need to iliminate things orderly so i would get the oxygen sensor checked first before you spend money on other parts. If this is at fault then its not expensive to replace and does cause the problem your having

How do I find out what make, model my 302 engine came out of ? It's in my '66 Mustang. I was told it's a '71 motor, but I would like 2 know what make, model ex (LTD, Maverick, F-100 Pickup) etc.?

Try taking the number off the engine and see if the dealer can search it up. I doubt they only put it in one car model, but the number on the engine should match the frame. Get where I'm going? As old as it is, I wouldn't expect anything though.

Hi, the problem could be the motor, controller, or resistor. You will have to troubleshoot using a volt/ohmmeter. If you have a meter and are willing to troubleshoot, I can send a procedure.

Recommended oil for this vehicle

This is a pretty vague question, however i would suggest a 5W-30, as this is pretty universal; the higer the number the thicker it will be, the thicker it is sometimes the harder it is to run. These numbers are based off the temperature of the oil. So that is why i recomend 5W-30, as the engine is cold the '5' is in place so it is thinner and is easy to start, once the motor gets hot as with the oil, then it gets to the 30 weight oil thickness at that temperature. However if you live in extreme hot or extreme cold i would adjust. higher numbers or just sae 30 for hot, and maybe 10w-30 if you are in say...canada; best of luck
