Question about 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

I put a water pump, a fan that works direct, a thermostat, a coolant temp sensor what can I put next.to make the fan work with its relay.I notice that the fuse to the fan have no electricity.

On pacifica there is a cooling fan sensor which is attached to repar with two rebits, looks alluminium the size of cellphone. and has harness connected to it. disconnect the wiring and replace the sensor. this will help the cooling fan to work proberlly.

Check the wiring. Replace the computer.

So the problem is it is running hot
Replace the radiator flush the complete system this means the
block and likely the heater core .
Do it all at wonce or you will be wasteing your time and will blow intake or head gaskets in the near future

Sounds like the engine head gasket needs to be replaced.The gasket has deteriated from the engine cylinder and coolant passage and overheating the coolant. Sometimes you will see coolant mixed with engine oil, or milky solution on the oil dipstick

My car heats up in stop n go traffic. The temperature gauge can go as high as to the 'RED'. I adding water and coolant everyday. Are the fans supposed to come on as I am driving and the car heats up?


if you are adding coolant every day then you are experiencing coolant loss
could be from a leaking pump gasket , head gasket or other leaking item
have a compression test done to check for head gasket , cracked head
next have the cooling system pressure tested to find the cooling leak
lastly check the fan, fan relay , fuses and coolant temp sensor unit for correct operation

Replaced head gaskets on pontiac trans am 1997 lt1 eng now its over heating


trapped air. When temp needle climbs to 1/4 way, loosen coolant temp sensor to bleed off trapped air in cylinder heads. Air is gone once coolant starts to stream out, but only open slightly at a time. May have to do in increments as trapped air will cause rapid overheat

How do I know my cooling fans are working


There a a few tests you can conduct here. Firstly, put power directly to your fan(s) Run two new wires directly from the battery to the + and - of the fan motor. Be careful doing this, as there is a risk of shorting the battery to earth. Maybe connect up the fan end before touching the wires onto the battery terminals. This will prove if your fans actually work. They should spin up to speed. Next, test the fan thermostat. There should be a terminal connection somewhere. One side of the fan wires would be connected to the thermostat. You will likely need a voltmeter to do this test. The thermostat is just a switch that should operate after a certain temperature is reached. Normally you would have to remove the thermostat from the car engine to test it, but it might be possible to test it when it's still installed. Next, test or replace the radiator thermostat. If coolant is unable to flow through the radiator after the engine warms up, you will get overheating. After a short warmup period, the radiator thermostat should open and allow coolant to flow through the engine block. Next, when the engine is running, check the exhaust pipe for water. Some water might be normal, until the engine is hot, but if a lot of water is evident, then maybe the block has been cracked. Best test for that is a cylinder compression test, with a compression gauge. Lastly, please do something positive about this. There is a great danger you will crack the engine block, especially if you are adding cold water/coolant to a very hot engine. Remember: does the fan run off direct power? Is the fan thermostat switching correctly? Does the radiator thermostat work correctly? Is the water pump working correctly? Hope this helps. Regards,

Radiator fans will not turn on.


replace fan switch. depending what make vehicle, it could be located
on the side of radiator, on thermostat housing, on cylinder head.

My truck keeps running hot. We change water pump, fuel pump, alternor, new belt, coolant temp sensor, and fan relay. Also A/C is not working so the fans wont come on. Is it another sensor in the truck...


Try connecting your fans directly to the battery to know if they are working. If they don't replace your fans. If they are ok, then change the thermostat.
Try this:
When engine cold, remove radiator cap, then fill the radiator with water and start the engine. If water jumps out of the radiator and continues going out as the engine warms up, then you have a bad head gasket and that's why is running hot.

97 transport 3.4 engine- New radiator, thermostat,temperature sensor, water pump and new low coolant level sensor. Temperature guage goes to 260 degrees but engine does not over heat. Bled air from cooling...


Check the operation of the cooling fans at the radiator. While idling disconnect the coolant temp sensor at the top left (drivers side) of the engine. It will be a 2 wire connector near the thermostat housing. When disconnected the coolant fans should come on immediately, if not you have an electrical issue with the relays or blown fuse. Check the fuses first in the underhood electrical panel. Next swap the cooling fan relay with an identical one next to it, if the fan works the relay is open.

Temp Gauge went to high


It could be 3 things: Temp sensor, thermostat, or fan relay. Fans don't usually turn on until car has been idleing for a while. I first would change thermostat, then relay, then temp sensor. Coolant must be 50/50 mixture for water pump to have proper lubricant from antifreezer. Do not go any further than a 60water/40antifreeze mix

rplace coolant temp sensor,and bleed all air out of coolant system ,fan relay checks and fuses check is good,,do fans run with ac on? if they do ,fuse and relay most likely ok but check relays any way

I think you started out looking in the right places. Replacing the coolant, thermostat, relay and sensor are all fairly inexpensive.

I believe you either have blockage in the system (especially if you're using tapwater), or your water pump may be failing.

I would first either take it to a radiator shop and have them flush the cooling system out thoroughly, or else pick up a chemical flush kit and do it yourself. This involves more than just drain and refill.

If this doesn't work, your next step will probably be replacing the water pump. At almost 200k miles, it's probably about due anyway.
