Depending on your speed at the time of the crash and the weight of the animal and the amount of driving that you did after the crash, the crank shaft bearings might be bad.

Yes a harmanic balancer from tha corolla is the same thing. I had to do the same thing with my 95 geo. It works out to be a lot cheaper buying for a toyota than a geo.

SOURCE: HARMONIC BALANCER

I have a '94 Tempo, it had a "ticking" sound. It was the "harmonic balancer" (crankshaft pulley) a local mechanic changed it for $60, the part cost me $120 (I work for a Ford dealership) $180 without employee discount. you can get one for much less at a junkyard if you can find one. Good luck, Sean

Serpentine belt keeps coming off. does harmonic balancer keep it on. how do you change it

Make sure you have the right size belt. If it's old then replace it. Then make sure you run it correctly or it can slip off. If it still slips off then check all your pulleys for chips or wobble before you replace any pulleys. I hope this will be some simple help for you.

If you know it is the wobble on the balancer. Replace the balancer. Balancers that slip will cause vibration also.

Why is my bottom pulley wobbly an the cause of it

The harmonic balancer is a sttel ring attached to the center section with a compressed rubber sleve. When the rubber gets oil soaked it swells and starts to fail - wobble. This is amplified by the high tension of the sepentine belt. Fix for it - replace the harmonic balancer. Before it comes off leaving uou stranded

2000 dodge 5.9 diesel looks like the harmonic balance is wobbling all bolts are tight

the harmonic balancer is bonded to the hub on a rubber strip
the pulley is the balancer and they do fail from the load of the drive belt
if it is wobbling then the bonding is failed and eventually the pulley will separate from the hub and could go through the radiator or any thing else near
I have witnessed a pulley separating from the hub, hitting the ground under the car and seriously injuring the leg of a passer by.
it was on a dodge chrysler -valiant
I suggest that you consider changing it asap or get an opinion from an accredited service shop familiar with your vehicle

Replaced the harmonic balancer and keyway, but the car won't start. The belts are turning all right.

Check that you have not damaged the crank position sensor or disconnected the wires to it . Check the air gap and the rotor for dirt and any thing that will prevent the sensor from working correctly.

The balancer should not "wobble" at all, period. Start by replacing that.

Should there be a little wobble to the vibration damper at low rpm of ' 05 town & country?

no. there should not be any wobble to your harmonic balancer pulley! any wobble to the bottom pulley, means it's out of balance. either a belts too tight,or a harmonic balancer bolts loose. the other belts contribute to the wobble once it begins. check the tourque on the harmonic balancer bolt. it should be about 180 footlbs thank you for choosing fixya.com.

I have a Kia Sportage 4wd 2002 with under 60000 miles. I lost power steering and when I took to mechanic they said I threw a belt(which they replaced with great difficulty) due to a bent or warped harmonic...

I got stuck paying dealer for new crank pulley not harmonic balancer as mechanic said. I am driving as little as possible until part comes in and can br put on. Hopefully, I will not damage the crank shaft or throw a belt.
