My ford 2.9 will not do 70 mph

It will not do 70 mph and at idle that goes up and down

Hi Gerald:
That's annoying. If it's running OK but just won't get up to your happy speed, it hopefully won't be much more than some letting you know that you care. I'd suggest you start with making sure the air filter is clean. How long since the spark plugs were changed. Same for the oil. Check your timing. Get a can of carb cleaner and spray out the carb with the engine running. If all else fails, Chevy's have been known to be good performers!

that is your transmission ,and it sound like the pressure control shift solenoid ans your overdrive solenoid

Do you have a check engine light on? First thing I would do is unplug the IAC motor when the engine is warm. If the idle speed doesn't change you have a vacuum leak or a bad IAC motor. If the idle speed goes down you might have a bad TPS or IAC

have you tried having your fuel injectors cleaned on it. the engine might not be getting enough gas at take off. it might also be that your gas tank fuel pump or the other fuel pump going bad
