Check to make sure you reconnected the ABS connector to the hub bearing connector and inspect for damage to the plug or wiring.

SOURCE: trac off and antilock lights are on

If ur lights are both comming on u have a bad connection at the wheel my alero had a bad wheel bearing that actually caused so much heat and friction it burnt the connector at the hub assembly behind ur caliper. check the connection there uif it grinds while u drive or break change the wheel bearing all lights and grinding will stop.

SOURCE: antilock brake /trac off light

In those cars, the wheel speed sensor is integrated into the wheel bearings. When one of the sensors goes bad, you have to replace the entire wheel bearing. Also, when the sensor(s) go bad, it will cause the loss of anti-lock braking and disable the traction control system.

The only way to identify which wheel bearing it is, is to hook the car up to a scan tool capable of reading ABS codes. That said, the front ones are more notorious for going out than the rear ones.

SOURCE: 2001 ford sports trac brake lights not working ,

This may be a simple fix, where the wheel jack or washer bottle is located in the back behind the panel, there should be connectors for the rear lights, it is possible that the plug has been dislodged, remove the panels and check the plug connections. Good luck.

SOURCE: traction control, brake, and Antilock lights...

it is from a bad wheel speed sensor. The abs, traction control and other systems use the sensor.the various codes are for various system failures. The root cause is the sensor.

My trac light says trac off, and my abs light is on. what does that mean? I have a 1999 grand am Pontiac.

the trac light is the traction control, the abs light means the antilock brake system is not functioning properly. the trac control is no issue. the abs will not cause the brakes to fail but they will lock instead of pulsing.

Antilock, braction, traction lights on the dash

It is none of the speed sensors. The 1214 is system contact or coil open. The 1248 is for the ebcm turned light on.These 2 are for the electronic brake control module. The 1245 is for the low tire pressure. And the 1287 is for the steering wheel position sensor. What you should do first is clear the codes and road test the vehicle. When the light comes back on check and see what codes came back. The electronic brake control module is for the antilock brakes and the traction control. When you get the codes after driving the vehicle post back with them and I can help you with whatever codes you have.Good luck.

Need to know why traction control is off and anti lock light is on low trac light is on.....would also like to know where the sensors and channels are located

wheel speed sensors are in the hubs.

these vehicles have a history of problems with
the front hubs wearing out and causing a bad
reading from the front sensor. sensor comes
with the hub.

The abs and trac lights stay on when the engine is running. how do I fix the problem ?

Something as simple as a different tire size can cause the abs to go nuts. I even had it where the two tires were the same size. But a different brand name. Each manufacture has their own tire sizing so not all tires a equal in size. Even though it says on the side of the tire that they are the same size.

Sometimes the cooper inside the insulation of the wires going to the sensors corrodes. Especially on the front units. It reads more ohms than normal but not open and is very intermittent. However moving the wires my make it work for a while. That's why replacing bearings seems to fix the problem but it comes back after a while.

You can test the speed sensors yourself...
Front sensor specs:
956 to 1240 ohms in 41 to 110 degree weather
at least 100mV AC (NOT DC!) volts when hub is spun by hand
Rear sensor specs:
950 to 1300 ohms in 41 to 110 degree weather
At least 100mV AC (NOT DC!) volts when hub is spun by hand

Here is some information from service bulletins that could be related to the problem. The traction control, antilock brakes, and tire inflation monitor all use wheel speed sensor input.

This first bulletin seems like it could be the problem because engine movement is involved:

GM Corporate Bulletin 00-06-04-049B
This Bulletin covers a problem that can cause multiple failures, one of which is an Antilock brake problem, and covers 2000-2003 Impala and Monte Carlo built prior to 2/03.
Check to make sure the wiring harness adjacent to the AC accumulator/dryer is not rubbing against the ac accumulator chaffing through the insulation of the wires in the harness.

GM Corporate Bulletin 03-05-25-008 overview:
GM front wheel speed sensor harness replacement - 2001-2003 Buick Century, Regal; 2001-2003 Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo; 2001-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue; 2001-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
This bulletin is about inspecting the harness going to the front wheel speed sensor for wear from contact with front suspension parts.
Repair harnesses/leads are available that can be spiced onto the main harness.
2001-2003 impala & Monte Carlo – Right side - 10340313
2001-2003 impala & Monte Carlo – Left side - 10340314

Antilock light is on and trac light is on sound

You have a bad hub bearing. 100% garunteed. The light is on because the bearing is so bad it hit the sensor for the abs & traction control , breaking it. So you're gonna need a bearing, a sensor, probably new brake pads, any seals{probably one} & a shop that can do it. The bearing is pressed in & needs to be pressed out. Heating & beating is not a good idea.
