Question about 2002 Kia Spectra
According to my book. the 0442 code means you have a small leak in your Evaporative Emission Control system. As to the fuel fill issue. Some cars have an anti-siphon screen further up the fill spout than others. Also, for some reason some stations feel they have to have their pumps double as fire hoses. Repair or diagnosis of the Evaporative Emission Control system is one of those things that shouldn't be attempted by the do-it-yourself mechanic.

SOURCE: Check Engine Light
check all hoses on vehicle especially around canister and make sure u have a factory gas cap
The canister purge solenoid is part of the evaporative emissions system. When it is commanded "open" by the PCM (computer), it allows fuel vapors in the fuel system to enter the engine. This solenoid basically acts as a valve regulating fuel vapor flow to the air intake system. By burning these vapors in the combustion process, the evaporation system helps to lower overall vehicle emissions. The solenoid circuit refers to the wiring used to control the function of this solenoid, and usually runs between the solenoid and the vehicles PCM.
any defect in the above mentioned canister working will cause your problem to happen

Testimonial: "Thank you, exactly what I needed to know!!"
Sounds like you need a new shifter assembly, or the brake switch. Most likely will be the shifter though if you can move it out of park with the override.

I have a Kia Sedona 2005 and I can't fill it up with gas without the pump kicking off and I have tried several gas stations. Sometimes I can get a few gallons in with no problem but then it kicks off again and I have to spend twenty minutes dripping fuel into it until I loose patience. Help me!

P0404....Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range/Performance
the P1404 code doesnt exist in the kia data codes but this one is in the generic codes and if its correct its showing a fault with the EGR valve but i would take it to a kia garage if you have been able to read the codes correctly
