SOURCE: Ford Windstar oil leak

I had the same problem. It was very simple; the oil filter had developed a leak, and needed to be replaced. Cheap. Worked perfectly.

SOURCE: 2000 saturn upper engine knocking

noise is caused by lack of oil to lifters, or worn timeing chain. if noise is from lifters it should go away wit proper oil level, if still there needs timeing chain.

Eventually, you will be replacing the battery (My 2000 Windstar is on its seventh one). Ford may have issued a factory service bulletin (FSB) for 2001 that applied to your vehicle.

Recently bout three months my engine oil light

When an engine oil light comes on, this is the 911 call to you that your engine is having an emergency in that there is not enough oil to lubricate the moving parts of the motor that keep it operating. Those knocking noises that you heard were the dying breath of your once dependable Ford engine; which is now junk. Because you "didn't have the time to pick up oil", you will now have to find the time to either replace or completely rebuild the engine. The Expedition has a V-8 so expect to pay at least $3500 for a new motor.

My 2000 Windstar runs well for first 20-30 mins then it starts to have engine knock it is also using oil but not burning it. Doesn't smoke doesn't show any signs of leaks under car either

Check your engine coolant. If its brown you may have a blown head gasket which is causing it to leak into the cooling system. (expensive fix) but if it's not brown I'd take it to a mechanic and have further inspection. Hope this helps:)

1995 Ford Windstar Engine Knocking at startup. Driven 2800 miles since last oil/filter change. Oil level SAT, Coolant level SAT and no visible leakage. Engine completely rebuilt 2 years ago. Engine has...

No if the oil light has flickered you have oil pressure loss some time just belive the sensor do help us out. lifter do not cause oil pressure loss pressure is built in the rotation of the crankshaft. The knock under the plenum will point you to that cylinder that is affected, (main bearing) as for a 1995 the injectors can only cause a misfire but no knocking noise, will they honor the warranty

Loud knocking noise comming from engine?

1995 Ford Windstar 3.8L Engine Knocking noise on top side of engine near center of Air Plenum. Engine was completely rebuilt 2 years ago (28,000 miles on Re-Built Engine/ 156,000mile on Van). Coolant level is SAT, Engine oil level is Sat. Van was driven 2800 miles since last oil/filter change. Engine started surging as van slowed down to make a stop then engine shut off. Restarted engine and heard knocking noise. Shut engine off immediately. The oil light flickers on dash with engine running. Do fuel injectors make tapping noises when degraded? Is it possible hydraulic lifter not able to leak down or does not fill with oil? Oil pressure issue with the dash light flickering? I can see if the engine has allot of miles on it, the intake and exhaust valves begin to leak-by how ever this not the issue. Where do you start to locate engine knock noise? How is oil pressure checked to see if pressure is too low? Any help where to start would be appreciated.

I had the instrument cluster replaced in my 2000 windstar and now the engine is knocking.Engine light comes on for about three days and then it goes off. What could be wrong with my vehicle?

I don't think your gauge cluster has anything to do with your engine knock. I do, however, think that your engine knock has something to do with your check engine light. Start by checking your oil level. A knock could be something simple, or it could be something serious. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to diagnose a 'knock' without being able to actually HEAR it first-hand, so I'll just throw you a few bones. If you live in a colder climate (especially this time of year) you might want to ask a certified mechanic what weight oil you should be running. A lack of oil to the top end of the engine could cause a knock. Bad gas could cause a knock (fill tank at a different station than the last one you went to). A timing issue could also cause a knock. If the knock persists or gets worse, take it to a mechanic for a diagnosis immediately. If the simple fixes don't do it, it won't get any better on its own.
