SOURCE: 03 Tahoe, idles down, shuts off, gas pedal

Have someone listen at the gas cap for the fuel pump humm when you first start the motor and keep listening if it stops hummimg. The piump may wok when there is low pressure in line and stop after build up of pressure.

My car starts idles for a few seconds and shuts down

Check for fuel filter restriction or defective fuel pump. Check for problems with ignition. I once had a defective ignition switch the car would start and when I drove the car it would turn off while I was driving.

Very high idle at start, slowly idles down after hot. Replaced ICV, sometimes lopes, can shut down, restart, idles right.

change fuel filter. add can of SEAFOAM(parts store) to 1/2 tank of PREMIUM gas. let car idle 3-5 minutes. drive hard at least 10 miles.

you have what I call Ethanol Gas Syndrome. the ethanol gets in your system adds water and turns fuel to brown goop, it also carbonizes valves, injectors, and emission parts.

you might want to change f filter after 500 miles(again). add SF every 3-5000 miles, and this will clean the carbon; fix the gas and fuel system, and dry the water. good luck.

Check your fuel filter. It may be clogged. If it is, you'll have no problem with starting and idling, since these require relatively little fuel flow, and even a clogged filter can usually flow enough for that. When you try and accelerate, the engine demands much more fuel, and a clogged filter may not be able to flow enough, which can shut the car down.
