I don't know year--make--model? Are your battery cables good? Can you check alternator wiring circuits?

check the earth wire from the battery there maybe a fault with the electrics. check the earthing points and connection to the battery.clean earthing points and connections. electric faults could be anything but these are the most common things to check. also if you have a meter check the battery check its volts before starting engine and check after the battery that is fully charged should read 12.04 or a bit higher. and with engine running it should be 14.00 volts can be higher by a bit. if the battery is fully charged and lower than 12 volts it has a problem if the charging from the engine is lower the 14v then they could be a problem with the alternator. if you have a drop out while driving parts of the system will drop as the voltage has dropped below it working rate. abs is 11 volts or lower will cut this out and say its not working and so on with other devices.

Check your battery connections to see if they ae clean and tight. Check all the ground wires in the engine compartmen to see if any is loose. Then check under the dashboard ror any loose ground wire connecting to metal points on the frame of the dashboard. You probably have a loose ground somewhere that is intermittently losing electrical contact....good luck!

305 engine --The volts gage is dropping-- HELP

The gauge could be wrong,it could be defective, have the alternator checked,at the battery,it should read from 13.65 volts to 14.25 volts with the head lights on,and the ac blower on high, with the engine running. If the alternator is new, check for 12 volts at the back of the alternator with engine off,if there is not 12 volts on the large wire,on the alternator, then the circuit is broken somewhere.Just install a new wire,of equal or larger size.Leave the original wire on the alternator, and just add a new wire, larger would be better if possible, and run it from the alternator,to the positive side of the battery,it will fix the problem.
