If the system includes the ecm to give power to a pump relay when required then the ecm will stop the pump working at times when the fuel pressure reaches the regulated pressure
I would be looking else where ,like having a pressure test done on the fuel system to find if relay, pump or regulator/ pressure sensor fault

98 Isuzu Rodeo Fuel pump not working Fuses and relays goodNew fuel pump

no engfne even stated.
why not say what "not working" means.?
Engine cranks ok but will not start, RIGHT?

Ill pretend fuel pressure is 0 PSI cranking right.

IMMObilzer light glowing? bingo.
interial switch tripped (was in a crash>?)see photo below...
The PCM sees dead spark so cuts all fueL? sure.
(it will, if it does?, scan it yet? cranking, that be first.)
The PCM can cut fuel for many reasons.
2 dead sensors, and spark dead on the tacho line.
1,2,3 bam
and immo set. 4
and the inertial switch, if fitting many are not.
what matters most (1st) is 12vdc to the pump actual cranking, does it have 11vdc at least>?
if you see 12vdc and PSI is 0 or not spec cranking
at the rail, then the filter can be clogged.
not just a dead pump,, i cant hear pumps cranking so.... i use TOOLS> to see whats going on.

to a DIY, vast answers.
1: makes noise.
2: fuel rail drips or not.
3: 12vdc missing to pump or not, cranking?
4: 0 (zero) PSI pressure at rail cranking

FUIL PUMP DONT GET ANY POWER

The ecu might have gone bad, not supplying power to the fuel pump relay. If the check engine light does not come on, on the dash, when the ignition is turned on, then the ecu is in need of repair.

FUEL PUMP MORE LIKELY WORN OUT SHORT OUT.BESURE REPLACE FUEL PUMP WIRES IF FUEL PUMP HAS TO BE REPLACED.CODE SCAN FOR ECU FAULT. IF FUEL FILTER STOPPED UP FUEL PUMP WILL SHORT OUT.

Starter motor went out on 92 5.0 ho replaced it and new battery, now fuel pump does not work I get a 542 code checked fuel pump relay and inertia switch both good fuse good

  • Code 542 indicates one of the following conditions:

Engine Starts:

· Fuel Pump secondary circuit shorted to power

· Fuel pump relay contacts always closed

· Open in fuel pump monitor (FPM) circuit between ECU and connection to POWER TO PUMP circuit

· Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen (HEGO) sensor shorted to power

· faulty ECU

Engine Does Not Start:

· Open inertia switch or inertia switch circuit

· Open in or between ECU and fuel pump (This includes open in fuel pump brushes/windings)

· faulty ground connection at fuel pump

The easiest way to check this circuit is to go to the fuel pump relay. If the relay clicks when the key is turned to the "RUN" position, then the inertia switch circuit is ok.

The Pink/Black wire starts from the fuel pump relay and goes two directions. One side goes back to the fuel pump. The other side is the fuel pump monitor circuit and goes to pin #8 at the ECU. This wire should only be hot for a second or two when the ignition is turned to the RUN position.

The fuel pump relay receives power on the Black/yellow wire. It comes from a fusible link at the power distribution center. This wire should be hot at all times.

If all the above is working as designed, them you probably have a bad fuel pump.

Ecu fuse keeps blowing

It is most likely the fuel pump trying to short out,the e c u fuse ,is also the fuel pump fuse.

Engine cranks but won't start, no fuel. Fuel pump and filter just changed. Accident button reset although the button feels free, no clicking or activating.

you going to have to narrow it down to see what part is defective. first check make sure you getting sparks by pulling one of the cable and use spare plug and ground it making sure you getting fire when turning engine over. 4 things need to check for fuel delivery. fuse, relay, fuel pump and crank sensor. assumed fuse and relay are good, using 12v light tester locate the fuel pump connectors and connect pos and neg terminal and have someone turn engine over and see is you getting any power to the pump, if the pump is good, crank sensor will be faulty, what crank sensor does it sense the flywheel turning sending info to the ECU then the ECU send power to the fuel pump. keep in mind, fuel pump will only turn on as long the crank sensor sense the flywheel turning.

No power to the fuel pump

keep in mind, just because the ignition is on does not mean you going to get power to the fuel pump, 1st make sure you fuse and relay are good, next disconnect connector plug from the fuel pump and take a 12V light tester and connect to the connector plug positive and negative, than turn the ignition/crank engine over and see if your 12V light tester lite up, if not than you need to check the crank sensor making sure is not faulty. what the crank sensor does, it sense the flywheel turning and send info to the ECU, than the ECU send power to the pump turning it on and keep it on as long the flywheel is turning. if your the sensor is bad, the ECU doesn't know if the flywheel is turning, in this case the fuel pump will get no power.

1994 chevy s10 fuel problem

If you having fuel flow problem, 1st check the fuel pump make sure is has a good pressure, 2nd check the crank sensors, 3rd common problems on 2.2l injectors which it has only one can be faulty or clog. 4th check fuel regulator, if the regulator is bad it wont keep the pressure build up and lock allowing the injector to work correctly. if your fuel pump is good, your crank sensor may also be going bad, what crank sensor does it it sense the flywheel turning and it send single to ECU (computer) telling it to turn on the pump and keep it running as long as the flywheel keep turning. If pump, crank sensor, regulator and injector are good, my next guess is to have your ECU bench tested. if you have to replace ECU, get it from the junk yard.

Fuel ECU fuse keeps blowing (30 amp)

Your fuel pump is internally binding and causing the fuse to blow. Change the pump (and filter while you're back there.)
