Mine is an Innova , it uses a 9 volt battery for memory. Yours might need battery power for function. ? The problem I've run into is the scanner powers off of the vehicle ALDL, in other words, the test port or plug under the dash or hood. If the test port fuse is blown your scanner won't work. The contacts also could be bent if someone has used a paper clip, wire, etc. to do testing on the vehicle. What type of vehicle is it ?

SOURCE: fuel problem

Most GM vehicles use the cigarette lighter fuse to power the data link connector. Better way to test a fuel problem is with a fuel pressure gauge. Code reader may give you a rich or lean cose but won't tell you why.

SOURCE: 2003 Saturn LW300 3.0V6 engine light came on,

Does the code reader power up? If not, check the fuses. OBD II ports supply power to the code reader. Typically GM uses the cigarette lighter fuse to power the OBD II port on their vehicles (could share a fuse with somthing else, but I doubt it). Good luck!

Have you hooked it up to a code reader or scan tool to pull codes out? Do that so you have a place to start your diagnose.

Wow your husband replaced the motor and transmission but cant get the cruise control light to stop flashing lol. May be wire not plugged in or plugged in to wrong spot this happens with newer cars and the 7 billion wires they have. Has he tried hooking your car up to a OBD reader to see if it gives a error code?

We have recently purchased a 2004 Chrysler Grand Voyager AWD Limited RG. The Engine light came on, and has stayed on, at the end of 350km trip but nothing appears to be wrong with the motor. What does...

it could mean anything the only way to know why the engine light came on is to hook it up to a code reader and that should tell you why the light came on.

The car ( 2003 Escalade)runs fine but check engine light came on.

Hooking a code reader onto the OBD II port will give you a code so that you can figure out what is wrong with it. It is most likely an emission code which won't hurt the performance but possibly the gas mileage

My engine light is on but there seems to be nothing wrong how do I fix it?

There are many emission sensors in the car that will make the engine light come ON.

Best way to find out what's going on is to have an auto-parts store hook up a engine code reader and tell you what the code means. Most auto-part store will do this for free.
