What causes the drivers side tire to tilt outward


well if its a nascar race car your speaking about then that's called Positive camber !!! and it makes you go faster in the turns ! cus there always turning left !!! if its not a race car your speaking of , then you have a bent front axle it will make the tire loose traction easier and it will make tire wear out faster

Rebuilt front suspension. Now camber is WAY out. Everything looks right except shocks don't fit. Considering extra long camber adjustment bolts. Any advice appreciated


do not consider any long camber bolts as that is not fixing the fault for camber to be so far one of the control arms has been fitted incorrectly or in the wrong place
is the upper control arm on the right side of the mount on the chassis
is the lower control arm on the top
The car is manufactured correctly so check for collision damage that is placing the control arm positions so far out
best is to buy a workshop manual and study the set up for the suspension
rest assured that buying something to fix a fault that should not be there to start with is a futile exercise and a waste of money
for camber to be way out the wheels will be leaning way in at the top or way out at the top as that is what camber is

if this is an independent front end the the camber can be adjusted by shims or eccentric washers on the lower arm
If it is a full axle the there are off set bearing cups available that a wheel alignment shop can fit when checking the camber. These bearing caps are available from places like Pedders and other accredited suspension shops.

If the tire is wearing on the outside or inside it is the toe in that is out. Camber rarely changes, however you may have worn out control arm bushings on that side. Of course the right should be done as well. The camber should be fine at 0 degrees. Hope this helps, plese post solved on fixya.com.So I get credit for a solved problem if it does solve it. 2011 C70 Front Camber is too agressive, is there anyway to prevent excessive tire wear that is due to negative camber being too large?


Have you had any work done to raise or lower the vehicle? What shape are the struts in? What about accidents ? What is the camber set to now? Did you look into aftermarket camber plates?

camber 0 to 1 degree castor 1 to 2 degrees and toe in 1/ to 1/4 inch as different roads are constructed differently with varying cambers (slope to the side for water run off) the wheel alignment is best set by a qualified wheel aligner shop to suit the local conditions

My C70 has way more wear on the inside of the rear wheels. So I took it for new tires and a 4 wheel alliegnment. The tire shop says that this wear is due to excess negative camber and at 2 1/2 degrees on...


2.5 degrees negative camber is not within spec. You need new control arms in the rear. These will set your camber back to the factory setting and reduce your tire wear on the inner edge. The first shop you went to is correct, the camber cannot be adjusted, components must be replaced to rectify the excessive camber. Ive done a couple of New Style C70 rear control arms for this very reason, if your vehicle is under warranty however, the dealer needs to be able to prove that the car needs it. So if you dont have wear on your tires and when the toe was set it readjusted the camber (when you adjust toe it affects camber and caster measurements) then they cant prove to Volvo that it needs the control arms. Camber adjustments 99 hyundai accent


The only camber adjustment that they make for this particular vehicle is what they call a camber correction bolt kit.It is sold in pairs and there are two bolts per package(one package covers one axle of vehicle) These run about $30 a set and they replace the upper strut bolt mount, they simply go in and replace the upper bolt on the strut, and they give you the option of moving the strutin and out up to three degrees to adjust camber.Are available at most auto pars stores. Front End alignment


Caster +2.5 degrees to +3.5degrees Camber -.5 degree to +.5 degree but Myself for best tire wear the Camber should be set at-.2 degree to +.2 degree. as for the toe it should be set at 0 straight ahead to an 1/8 an inch toed in. I myself preferr 1/16th of an inch toed in.
