If the whole thing quit tomorrow it does not owe you any thing I never look at my odometer myself just use the trip mileage for oil changes .

there should be a menu button some where on the dash that will let you select it also it might have the gauge with both mph and km on it your owners manul should tell you how to change it

Either you have a broken wire some where from the speed sensor to the cluster or you have connector at fault, the one which hookup the dash cluster to the main wire bundel. Check the connector, maybe a pushed back pin !!
