Flashing check engine light i would stop driving immediately but not certain to your particular make an model but every time i have come across a flashing check engine light it has been a random multiple misfire which could be a number of causes first verify that this is the issue then if it is the trouble shooting part (vacuum leak usually at intake to head, plugs, coil packs) so this (if it is the problem) can be an electrical and/or a mechanical problem.... good luck keep us posted

Check the codes by going to a local parts store like orielly autozone or advanced they all do diagnostic checks for free. its something you should have done months ago when the light first came on. however with it flashing it means its a emission problem with your described problem it tells me its a bad catalytic converter remember to also replace your O2 sensor with it

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Check the coil pack. Same symptoms on mine. It went at 74,000.
You can get the resistance specs from a shop manual. I have been told the plastic engine cover traps heat and makes short life of the coil pack. I removed the top engin cover, cosmetic only after replacing mine. You will probably need spark plugs also they are probably fowled by now. If you have not changed spark plug wires in awhile in would not hurt.

The pcm (powertrain control module ) is telling you it has a set code in the memory. Take the car to a parts place like (auto zone ) and have them to run a scam on the pcm for a trouble code. Once you have done that then you will be able to correct the problem. Hope this will help you.

Flashing CEL is an indication of a misfire. You would need a code scanner to find out which cylinder it is.
The code should be a P030n where n= 1 to 8 ( the cylinder number ). Could be a P0300, which is a misfire indication.
