A bad float will do this also. The easy fix is to buy a rebuilt carb.

SOURCE: cant find fuel filter on 1988 foed econoline van

Follow the fuel line right up to the carb or throttle body. Sometimes it's a very small "metal can" looking thing that is on the carb end of the fuel line...surprisingly small...not like the bigger in-line filters found along the frame rails on other models. This small can-like filter screws into the carb and the line is attached to same. It's about the size of a quarter in diameter and an inch and a half long.

SOURCE: fuel pump location 1988 ford econoline

Theres 2 pumps one in the tank, lift pump, and one in the chassis rail under the driver side. The one in the tank is cheap, the one in the rail is not. The one in the tank only produces low pressure to prime the main pump and if it is broken, may not cause that much of an issue except when starting. the one in the rail is a no-start if it fails. The idea is that the rail pump can supply high pressure for the injectors, so a fuel pressure test at the injector rail will determine which pump is playing up. Hope that helps Tim

SOURCE: dash lights quit working in

The dash lights are fused. As Ford dosn't lable the fuse panel, you will have to look in the owner's booklet or look at the fuses to see if ones blown.

Either the float no longer floats or the float valve is stuck open. The easy fix is to replace the carb with a rebuilt one.

Just purchased a 1988 ford E150 cargo van and it has 2 gas tanks. What is the size of each tank?

The tank which is closer to the front of the vehicle is 18 gallons and the tank which is located behind the rear axle is 22 gallons.

1983 van has been sitting awhile, can't get ga sto carb

Pump the gas while looking down into the carb, if you see a spray of fuel then there is gas in the carb bowl. and the pump is working, if no gently tap on the carb fuel bowl, the inlet valve may be stuck closed from varnish caused by dried fuel.
