Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Passenger side fan not working, car does not run hot, but the inside of fan is burned and melted.that was the plastic fan cover.

I drove to Houston tx. And back home, my car smelled of burned rubber, I thought it was my belt but found later my cover to fan was just hanging there. It was no longer this fan important that it has to be replaced right now or will it prevent me from getting it inspected?

Burning plastic smell when cold out run heater and fan inside car and out

Are you loosing radiator fluid. sometimes the heater core will rupture and you will smell burn odor. also check for strange rubbing sounds or screeching coming from the blower fan motor. or engine exhaust manifolds are hot when car is on, make sure nothing is leaning on them which will cause a burn odor. Any odor coming from outside will find it's way inside through the fresh air vents.

My 04 silverado heater only worked on 3 and 4 but

This is a very common problem on chevy's,,,The control in the dash is bad or iwould check first,,,the wires,,,on passenger side remover kick panel,, if it has one,,,think it has 2/3 screws,,, under the dash near the floorboard, up under the dash you will see a round plate "the fan cover"with wires coming out,,, i think you have to remove the fan/ cover to unplug the wires,,,but you may not have to,,, but either way unplug the wires and see if the wires are melted,,burned or fused together, and if where it plugin is melted,,on the fan,,, this is probley you problem,,, you can buy a replacment wire loom at some parts stores or ebay,,, you can probley make the plugin on the fan work ,, if not it will have to be replaced to,,,, its not real hard to do so dont. Spaz out

Car smells like melting plastic

There can be a lot of odors that are present in cars.; If the engine is running rich, the CAT gets over heated and can cause some cars to catch on fire. That is the worse case scenario.

Burning plastic smell and white smoke inside car

it will be burnt wire and around the ignition switch
burnt wires are obvious but be smart
only an accredited auto electrician should be used to locate the wire/s so don't let your boyfriend start or it will cost more in the long term and will still not be fixed

AC fan control in car only works on high. Started with no. 4 not working then 1,2&3 stopped, now only runs on no. 5

This will work, I have done it 3 times!
open glove compartment, squeeze sides so the whole thing tips out. Take a flashlight and look straight ahead, you will see an electrical part, unscrew the 2 bolts, and disconnect the wires. Take it to your dodge dealer, regular parts stores won't have the part. get a new one and put everything back.
this is easier than pumping gas.

2002 Alero 2.2L is miss firing and burning too much gas, a friend told me that is was running tooo rich??? Just alttle inside... I drove this car to work and it was fine.... I went to leave work and and...

replace ignition system, start with coils, and coil pack housing under engine top cover. The plastic coil cover may be arking out. some people will tell you to look for "spider webs" on the plastic cover, don't you believe it!!! They go bad quite ofter and cost $50 a shot. also check your plugs, ONLY use autolite or ac delco REGULAR plugs, avoid bosch AT ALL COSTS.
