ML320 Benz has annoying whistle sound when driving over 60mph. May feel as if a window is not completely shut or the door. Are the rubber seals worn out?

Thanks Max. I thought it was the rubber around the sunroof or the rear windscreed rubbers. Hope it works coz this 98 benz runs well.

Hi Anthony:
Try opening a window just a bit and see if it stops. Get someone else to help you by sitting in different seats to see if they can tell where the sound is coming from. Chances are that you are on the right track with the seals so check them all to make sure they are clean. You could wipe them with a conditioner like Armour-All. That sometimes helps.

SOURCE: My 2002 Kia Sedona started making a whistling

I have a similar problem with my kia sedona 2003. The kia dealer told me to have the disc pads replaced. I brought it to a brake pads bonding shop cause its cheaper to replace there. But the thinnest pad are still half thick. The real problem was on the back plate, it's touching on the brake disc making the sound and scratching it. Just push the back plate away from the disc to solve the problem. If I have known this I could have used those disc pads for a few more months.

SOURCE: Air whistling into vehicle through brake rubber boot/seal

You should be able to replace the boot. Without seeing the vehicle, you should be able to disconnect the shaft going through the firewall and get the boot off/on that way.

Why do i hear a whistling sound while driving sometimes?

I used to get this on my old car, check the rubber seals around the outside of the windows for small gaps. The air passing over the gap can be causing the noise.

Whistling noise coming from the driver's side. It seems to be coming from right behind my ear. It starts as soon as I hit 60mph and above. Can't pinpoint the exact location. Any help would be greatly...

If its a wind noise, you can tape over window seals, door cracks one at a time to help you pinpoint your problem area. There is no easy way to find those, just have to use the process of elimination.

I would say the window is not closing completely, or the door is not closing tightly, or the weather stripping around the door or window is bad or worn out

Check weatherstripping around windows and doors. Sometimes it's crushed slightly and air is getting through. Easy way to find it, take your rig to a self serve car wash & spray high pressure water in areas you suspect. If air gets in, so will water.

When the speed on the vehicle is over 140 km a " whistling" sound is heard

Could be an air leak in a window seal, or maybe even a speedometer cable?
But you need to narrow it down more.
Take a piece of rubber tubing, listen through it, and move it around where the whistle is loudest, while someone else drives.

Front L- Window would not go up.

It sounds like it's more likely a motor or regulator issue.

on the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you can disconnect the switch harness and test the switches. If they are fine, then you'll need to pull back the weather seal to see the motor and regulator.
