The power steering pump is loading the engine to do the job and the engine rpms at idle are not compensating for the load

1970 ford f250 shakes real bad when I let off the gas. Any ideas I'm stumped

it depends what shakes ? if it only dose it when your slowing right down without braking then it could be an engine mount. if your braking it could be many things from warped disks to track rod ends/ball joints/loose wheel bearings. try and trace the shake. front right-left/steering wheel/back right -left.checks to do are, jack car up and hold the top and bottom of the wheel and shake it/there should be no movement/hold the sides of the wheel and shake it/there should be no movement ( on all wheels ) grab engine and shake it while looking at both sides ( checking engine mounts ) shaking can be caused by a number of things even bad shockers. good luck

98 freelander stalling fault

Explore the problem to see if its the power steering, or physical steering or engine:
Does it stall when its in neutral and you go to full lock?
If so its the power steering, or the engine isnt ticking over fast enough to generate the extra pump pressure needed when on full lock. Check pump belts are good and tension is correct. Then buy a used idle valve and swap it out.
Also do basic checks to see if wheels are catching on some part of car. Jack it up so front wheels are off ground, on full lock in neutral do the wheels turn freely, or catch on something? Slowly lower the vehicle down and check same as you do it. When its down put it in gear and see if it stalls.

Engine stalls when wheels turned

you have a bad power steering pressure sensor, seending you some info on it,The switch's function is to signal the PCM when the power-steering system exceeds its normal operating hydraulic pressure, like when you cut the steering wheel all the way to one side and hear that hissing sound from the pump. The PCM then raises the idle speed and/or disengages the air-conditioning compressor to prevent the engine from stalling.

1991 4.3 GMC SIERRA SLX 1500 engine starts but as soon as you go to turn the steering wheel or turn the a/c on the engine dies, have any idea ? ihave changed multiple sensors.

I would check the idle air control valve and the throttle body.
The valve could be faulty or the throttle body could have dirt blocking the air passage.
If you keep the RPM above idle speed does it still stall ?

When the Escape is just sitting, after you start it,if you turn the steering wheel, just a little, the engine shuts off. All the dash lights are still on and it will restart everytime. You can go forward...

Hello, You could be right about chaffed wiring in the column. What you might try to isolate the effect is to jack up the front wheels and take the load off the steering components. This would minimize any Drag effects stalling the car out from the steering pump working too hard.

Then if you have the same effect, the chaffed wires should continue to rub in the column. If the problem goes away with the wheels up, you will need to look at the moving parts under the hood. There should be some type of step-up sensor to increase the RPM when the steering pump is under a load.

I would ask at Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys for instance, to find this sensor. It may be mounted on the Rack and Pinion or on a flow line. You may lose a little fluid when changing it, but it should be a bolt in part.

My 99 subaru legacy 2.5 feels like its going to stall when im turning at slow speeds like about to park.

if you are turning the wheel all the way until it stops then you are putting the steering pump in a bind cuasing the engine to slow down more causing the engine to stall ,,, recommend you turn the steering wheel all the way you are going until the wheel stops and then back the other way a little bit to stop this binding,, shoulsd stop your problem

Power steering problem

If the fluid is not contaminated and there is no contamination in it it may require replacing the pump. It is possible to flush the pump though it can be a little messy.

Steering wheel clicks on 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback wagon

steering column bearing sounds like a worn out steering column... jack the front wheels off the ground both sides relieve load on steering wheel to see if it lessens the amount of feel and noise, if it does it shoud be the column bearing, replace bearings or complete column,,, also try with the wheels off the ground and safely supported to manualy steer the wheels by hand and see if you feel in roughness or hear any noises, should some minor resistance but be smooth in it movement if everything suspension and steering component wise is in good working condition... please rate my help.. thanks...
