* foot pounds *
balance shaft (if equiped) gear bolt = step 1 = 15 ft.lbs. step2 = additional 35 degrees.
camshaft sprocket bolt = 18 ft. lbs.
connecting rod cap = step 1 = 20 ft. lbs. step 2 = additional 70 degrees.
crankshaft damper bolt = 74 ft. lbs.
crankshaft oil deflectorbolt/nut = 27 ft.lbs.
cylinder head bolts = step 1 = 15 ft. lbs. step 2 = additional 73 degrees. (tighten in sequence)

To install:

  1. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces.
    NOTE The water pumps on some of the engines covered may have been installed using sealer only, no gasket, at the factory. If a gasket is supplied with the replacement part, it should be used. Otherwise, a 1 / 8 in. (3mm) bead of RTV sealer should be used around the sealing surface of the pump.
  2. Apply sealant to the water pump retainer threads.
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Water pump using a new gasket. Tighten the water pump retainers to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) for 4.2L engines, or to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm) for 4.3L engines. For 5.3L engines, tighten the bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm), then to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm). Coolant hose(s) Water pump pulley. Tighten the pulley bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). Fan or fan and clutch assembly Serpentine drive belt (if equipped) by positioning the belt over the pulleys and carefully allow the tensioner back into contact with the belt. V-belts (if equipped) and adjust the tension Upper fan shroud Negative battery cable
  4. Refill the engine cooling system.
  5. Run the engine and check for leaks.

What are torque specs on 1965 ford 7 and 1/4 inch rear


I have a '68 Motor's manual (goes back to'58) the only rear end specs I can find are for the pinion nut (140 ft. lbs.)
pinion preload: 17-27 in. lbs. w/integral carrier or 22-32 in.lbs. w/ removable carrier. Tightening the carrier bearings isn't so much a torque setting but more or a tightening procedure. Theses specs are done during the rebuild so I wonder if you're asking about the bearing caps or bolts that hold the diff. to the axle housing? I could not find a spec. for bolt torque. Since the bolts that hold it in (if that is what you asking about) are not a bearing adjustment, you can go with a generic torque based on bolt size. Again, I'm not sure what component, or bolts it is you are asking for torque specs on.

Axle nut preload is very important, too tight will cause premature wear of the hub. The proper preload for a 2001 Chevy Blazer is 103 foot pounds.

My 2004 chevy blazer clunks only in 4whl drive, right front. Anyone know what it might be?


There is so much turning up there that it can be several things. The normal Balljoint problem can have the part slip in and out of its socket if it gets loose. Check your tierod ends for slack.
Sometimes Calipers can rock if they are failing to float properly with loose hardware. The front torque is changing from being pushed by the rear wheels to pulling with the front wheels.
This can affect how the Balljoints react as the sockets are getting torque differently than in 2WD. You are also using the CV joints to pull rather than coasting in 2WD. Check your end play for the front hubs; they used to be about .005 and you need Year model specific Specs to be sure.

Hi, the proper torque spec is 18 ft. lbs. or 25 nm.

I need the torque specs for head bolts on a 2001


step 1 22 lb
step 2 - short bolts add 55 degrees - medium bolts add 65 degrees - long bolts add 75 degrees
These are torque to yield and are recommended to be replaced when servicing..

Torque specs on Chevy Silverado 2500 rear diff yoke.


There isn't a torque spec since those bearing are pre-loaded. You place the unit on a good known vic and get a breaker bar and you might even have to put an extention on that and you begin to tighten unitil you fell the bearing start to load...a little extra short turn wouldn't hurt at that point.
