If the coolant in the system gets low it should shut off to protect the compressor.

You can check all the fuses by visually examining them. The relays can be checked by placing your hand on the A/C one while someone inside turns the A/C on and off. if it clicks at least you know that is good. You could also use a test light to learn if power is getting to the A/C clutch. There is a black box under the hood for the relays with a diagram on the cover to show which is which. I don't know exactly where the fuses are on that particular model. Look near the drivers side under the dash panel or in the glove box.

I would replace the AC compressor cycling switch it may be sticking have seen it a number of times. The switch is located in the receiver dryer on the passenger side of the engine compartment. See picture below.

If this isn't the problem the AC compressor relay may also cause this, flip a coin.

2005 Kia Sportage ac does not blow for a few days then next morning it will be fine again

There may be a cabin filter, but you should still hear the blower running even if the filter is clogged.
A mechanic would check for voltage and ground at the blower motor when it does not work.

Your AC system is supposed to shut down if the engine is hot, as a safety device-make sure when the ac is running , the radiator fan is blowing-it may not be, caused by either a bad relay, blown fuse or a bad fan motor. Make sure your antifreeze is fully up to level, and if you haven't done it in the past 2 or 3 years, get the cooling system serviced with a new thermostat-cheap insurance, you do NOT want to overheat that aluminum engine, because if you do, it will be toast.
