it is most likely an automatic awd, 4 hi is full time 4 wheel drive, 4 lo is full time 4 wheel drive but at a very low gear ratio and should not exceed 25 mph or could cause damage. and DO NOT shift into 4 lo while vehicle is in motion. Auto is a 2 wheel drive but automatically engages into 4 wheel drive under heavy acceleration.

If you are in 4 low to go back to 2 wheel drive you have to be in neutral if you aren't already

I had the same thing happen this weekend.Ij ust talked to my service man and he said if all the fuses are good it might be the switch on the dash.

Transfer case and shift linkage need servicing. Sometimes customers have gotten away with just a simple lubrication.... others a rebuild.

The electrical switch going to the 4wd is bad more than likely. It would be the one under the truck

pull atc 25 amp fuse in underhood fuse center and 10 amp 4wd fuse inside cars fuse box,your problem is in control box behind kick panel on pass. side ,corrosion build up,

look on fire wall pass. side you will see 2 parts with vacume lines attached 99 percent of the time that is what went i had the same problem
