It would help if I had year make and model + mileage. Check your oil level. Did it just happen or is the car several years old? How low is it?

SOURCE: low oil pressure indicator

Could be a faulty pressure sender, or engine problems.
I would either replace the sender or pull it out and check the pressure with a mechanical gauge.

I just got a new oil pressure sensor installed and the oil pressure light still on any tips

Use an analog gage in place of the oil pressure sending unit. Check the actual oil pressure reading, compare the reading to vehicle specs. Go from there. Maybe your oil pressure is low for some reason? I wouldn't drive the vehicle till you diagnose the problem.

I don't know year--make--model of vehicle? Is this a high-mileage engine?

If the engine oil pressure switch senses low oil pressure will it cause the engine to stop

On many cars, yes. Without more information about your vehicle, I can't tell you more than that.

Low oil pressure on 2006 chevy monte carlo.

Hi,
you do not state the figures for the low oil pressure. There are various reasons for low oil pressure in an engine.
One fact is correct, if you continue to use the vehicle with low oil pressure being developed, you will be looking at an engine replacement or full repair in the very near future.

Good luck.

Low oil pressure after engine warms up in 94 blazer with 4.3

I have a 99 blazer and ever since I have owned it, it reads lower in pressure when idling, but will go up too 40 while driving. This is normal for the vehicle. If the pressure gets real low, and stays low, it means its time for an oil change.

As long as the pressure goes up when you give it gas, it is fine.

Low oil pressure light comes on and i changed the sensor

does the oil pressure gauge show low oil pressure?is it low oil pressure light? or low oil light? 2 sensors on this vehicle.make sure you get a chevrolet oil sensor, aftermarket sensor do not do well, make sure your using 5w30 or 10w30 wieght oil,if you are putting out over 20 lbs at idle in gear,i see no problem, should go up to 40 or better on accel,if it is low oil pressure and the gauge conferms, possible engine wear

98 altima oil light on and off oil level fine car restarted and

If oil pressure is LOW this vehicle has a safety feature that will prevent vehicle from starting.(check oil level before you start) Now what I wan't you to do is to have the oil pressure switch checked or changed. This may be the reason why this vehicle is not starting or it can also be that the actual oil pressure is low. To check the oil pressure of the vehicle you will need an oil pressure guage. Remove the oil pressure switch and connect guage to oil pressure hole and check oil pressure while cranking vehicle. Some pressure testers can be connected to oil filter housing either is fine. If this vehicle has low oil pressure the reasons for that are bad oil pump, clogged oil pump pick up(from lack of oil change/poor mantainence) or bad connecting rod and main bearings but this usually have a warning from before (the engine will sound loud by knocking /clicking-tapping noise) It this was happening you may need to rebuild this engine or replace it. Good luck and Thanks for using FIX YA

Low oil pressure in 1998 camaro ls1

First have your oil level checked and make sure that it is at the right level. If not that's your problem, if your level is good you may have a bad oil pressure switch. This can be checked by using a oil pressure guage. If switch is bad replace and solve the problem. However if your vehicle has alot of wear and tear on he engine and you were using 20w-50 oil and it was replaced with 5w-30 that oil may be too "light" for the vehicle and you would get a low oil pressure reading. Good Luck
