P0016 refers to the Cam shaft sensor and crank sensor not in sync , the P0011 refers to Variable Valve timing and Variable Camshaft Timing , as the P0016 has shown i would expect that is the issue between these sensors and the PCM , dont waste your time and money on trying to get a cheap fix this is a know issue with VW and a VW dealer will have the appropriate equipment to readily rectify the issue, i think this link will show why is best to go to a VW dealer, but the choice is yours , incidently there is no need to check for electrical issue as is a component based issue so a waste of time and money if your mechanic does the se first tests

What is the correct timing chain installation on 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 engine

the timing marks are to line up and face each other
then fin the chain
then turn the crank until the crank sprocket is facing down timing mark is facing down
the cam mark should be in the 2 oclock position
there should be 15 links between marks
form your description that is what you have done so the problem is not in the timing chain installation
back firing is normally from a valve still open when the spark occurs so check firing order or the distributor installation is not 180 degrees out

Where are the timing marks on a 2.4l 1990 mitsubishi dodge ram 50 import? changing waterpump and belts.

The cam(s) have an indentation between two teeth that correspond to mrks(s) on the metal backplate on the culinder head. The crank gear will have a dot on it that lines up with a small peg, I believe. Rotate the crank to TDC mark on balancer and check cam marks. If not seen, rotate crnake 360 degrees and see cam marks line up. Wehn removing the belt, the cam(s_) will move slightly WRT the crank s they will be under some force to rotate so the valcves are clsoed. Know that when installing the new belt. Also, repalce tghe hydraulic tensioner and ilder pulleys to be safe. Good luck removing the harmonic balancer! Nasty job, that.

Car wont start. i changed the crank sensor i jump a tooth on the belt i fixed that

A car will start and run without an alternator as long as the battery is is good condition and fully charged, but it is advisable to install the alternator belt, for if you do get the engine running, and while it's idling and you're checking out other bits and pieces, the engine is trickle charging the battery, and saves you time to install the belt later.

As for aligning the timing marks,,, they have to be aligned otherwise all sorts of problems will arise *IF for some fluke* the engine does start.

No cam crank sync after waterpump change on 2001 intrepid 2.7

When you did the water pump there are timing marks to get the belt on right that's and interfernce engine so the timing marks have to be lined up perfect or the car will throw up cam and crank codes because the vehicle is not running in time means the timing is off a tooth or two

How do you change the waterpump on a 1991 lexus 400LS 4.o engine

The water pump is driven by the timing belt, so it is best to change that too. If I remember right the V8 has 4 cam shafts and uses a hydraulic tensioner. Since you have to precisely line up all the timing marks on the cams and the crankshaft, This job is best left to a person that has a good knowledge of this engine or a better than average skill level. failure to install the timing belt properly may result in extensive engine damage.

The procedure for timing belt removal is as follows: remove the accessory belt(s). turn the engine by hand so that cylinder #1 is at top dead center. You should have timing marks on the crankshaft ulley and the timing cover. remove the pulley. then remove the timing covers. You will have to support the engine from underneath as you need to remove the engine mount to take the belt off. INSURE that all the timing marks line up and rotate the engine as needed to achieve this. Take the belt off and then you can remove/replace the water pump. Install the timing belt and isure that all the marks line up after you reset the tensioner. Rotate the engine clockwise 2 full turns and check all the timing marks. If any are off then re install the belt again. After that put the timing cover back on and install the crankshaft pulley. then install the belt and fill the radiator. run the engine with the radiator cap off until tthe thermostat opens and add water to the right level.

Changed the water pump on my 1997 passport & now the timing is off.

I assume you are talking about valve timing not igntion timing. If that is the case your water pump maybe run by the timing belt. If it is you would need to completely disassemble the timing cover and set the number one cylinder to TDC (top dead center) on the Compression stroke not the exhaust stroke. Once you do that line the timing marks up on cam gears with marks on the side of the head. Then install a new timing belt and tensioner. It is a good idea to always change the pump and belt together. I would suggest buying a manual for your specific vehicle for specific torque specs and exact locations of components and procedures.

I have installed a new timeing belt and the small belt as well on my 1994 2 litre petrol sohc L300 mitsubishi van i aligned the cam sprocket mark with the top mark inside the cover the crank paint mark did...

It's been a while since I've done a Mitzi. Main belt on crankshaft pulley (should be the biggest) another belt for power steer / A/C - tensioner ok? Although that wouldn't make it run like a old dog. Should be straight forward, locate each of the marks all in line with --> & ....t's. Have you done a timing light check? Good luck hope that adds a little more to think about.
