Sounds like just a broken Cable in your shifter. Should be fairly easy to fix and cheap the cable should be more than 70.00 usd if that and the repair should take about an hour so what ever the shop charges plus the price of the parts. I would say 150.00 May be depending on the shops prices. don't be to scared I have seen the cable **** out many many times and I am sure thats the problem, So don't let them scam you if they try to say its the tranny get a second opinion. sounds like you may have brake fluid leaking onto your rear brake shoes,or your brakes are contaminated with something.also check rear brake shoes are adjusted correctly and or worn out.If you have disc brakes on rear make sure e-brake isn't stuck on.

I would go with the one under the hood because the owners manual is generic for all models for that year while the one under the hood is for your model.
