Question about 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

1 Answer

Turn signal and four-way flasher don't work.

Turn signal only blinks if you 'almost' pushe it into the set position. I had it replaced a year ago for the same problem and it failed about 4 months later - same problem. Cost over $400. Can I replace it myself? If so, how?

You can replace it yourself but it is a little difficult , you have to take the steering wheel off and the airbag out also , a couple nuts and screws unplug it from under the dash , you should try to look on youtube and see if this is something you can or should do yourself , that is quite a bit of money for to pay someone that amount to change it , it is not hard but is that your problem it could be a bad ground or something like that loose fuse socket, I have never known any of those switches going bad like that , they rarely go bad , I would look into it further , best of luck ,

Turn lights blink with hazards but not with turn signal..flasher replaced. is It the multifunction lever then??

There should be a turn signal flasher and a hazard flasher. They are two different parts. If you replaced the hazard flasher and not the turn signal flasher than I would start by replacing the turn signal flasher.

One thing you can do once you find the turn signal flasher is to unplug it and use a jumper wire between the two pins of the connector then turn the key to the run position and place the turn signal lever in the left or right position. If the turn signal lights know light up than the turn signal flasher is the problem

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! I replaced my flasher unit, and my signal lights still blink 1-2 times then nothing. My hazards and brake lights work fine. I push the signal arm down and it blinks 1-2 times then...

Have you replaced the relay because there's one of them as well with the flasher unit. I've been having a problem with my hazards not working but turn signals work fine. Maybe the arm on your steering column might be on its way out because they do get used alot.

1994 Chevy C1500 truck. No rear brake lights

Most likely this is a brake light switch issue. Replace switch.

If your emergency flashers don't work, all flasher bulbs are fine, but flashing too fast, then check and replace Hazard light switch.

Hi: I have a 1998 Chevy Blazer 4.3 The brake lights and turn signals don't work.... HELP

Sounds like you have a bad multiple function turn signal switch. A couple things to try With your foot pressing on the brake pedal, Press the four way flasher button up and down, press and hold it down, pull up on it, or wiggle it. If the brake lights come on during any one of those replace the switch. With the key in the run position pull, push, the turn signal lever slightly. If the turn signal or brake lights start to work replace the switch. Let me know if none of those work, they usually do, and I'll get you some more in depth diagnostic info.

My 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue signals do not work on the front end of car, the ones in back blink fast. The front signal turn on but don not blink. I tried the fuses and the hazard unit. Any other ideas you...

the bulbs have twin elements, I suspect that the one element used for the turn signal circuit is burned out-try replacing one bulb with a new on to see if that fixes it-if not, those sockets are known to have problems with corrosion, so examine them for it.

Signal lamps do not light or blink when lever engaged. 4-way flashers do work.

It could be that one of the flasher module for the turn signals is bad. There should be 2 flasher modules: one for turn signals, and one for four way flashers. Check you vehicles manual for a location on the flasher modules, or Google a query like "Location of turn signal flasher module on a *Year Make Model*". After you locate them, it should be as simple as going to an auto parts store and asking them for a replacement module. If that doesn't work, I could be the switch in the dashboard, or a more complex wiring problem. Make sure you check all of your fuses too. I would say that if you cant fix it by replacing the flasher module, you should take it to a mechanic because it is very easy to destroy wiring in your car.

1998 taurus - turn signals were working - pushed the hazard lights button - hazards did not work and also now turn signals do not work

Check the fuse/relay panel for a blown fuse/relay. Also look at the turn signal flasher and the four way flasher located in fuse/relay panel for problem. If the fuses are good replace the flashers to correct the problem. Hope this will help you.

Turn signals aren't working but flashers are

that is because they run off different systems, they both have thier own relays, normally the common fault with flashers not working is either, fuse, or relay (flasher repeter unit), if you turn your turn signals left or right can you hear a click click click noise? if not its your flasher unit, hope this helps

Turn signal problems

Turn signals have a relay (its a small switch that charges and discharges current) which controls your turn signals blinking speed and interval. This is most likely your problem. You should be able to get a new one at your local parts store. Follow these instructions, in this order, and let me know how it works.

Step 1:Turn on the hazard lights and walk around the Taurus checking that all four turn signal lights are working. If any of them are not working, replace the bulbs. A non-working bulb in any of the turn signals will often make the turn signals appear that a flasher is going bad.

Step 2:
Locate the fuse box and check the fuses for the turn signals. There may be more than one. Replace any fuses that are blown and then recheck the turn signals again. If they still aren't working properly, then move on to replace the flasher. Step 3: Look for a round, silver-colored object near the fuse box. Put your finger on the object and turn on the turn signal. You should be able to feel a mechanical clicking as the turn signal blinks. This is the flasher. Step 4: Pull the silver flasher out of the socket and replace it with the new one. Each of the flashers should have two pins sticking out of the bottom side. Start the Taurus and recheck the turn signals to ensure that they work. Joel

Turn signal, flasher

Sounds to me like your flasher is dead, perhaps the one you replaced it with 5 months ago was a dud... for 10-15 bucks, you might as well replace it with a new one.
