Theirs is no power at the data link hook up. 6 wire ,what feeds the red wire. can not use my scanner to read my codes. thx

Central locking system


Somehow you must have not installed the system properly. PLEASE, if you take it to any repair place, TELL THEM YOU HAVE AN AFTERMARKET SYSTEM. Sometimes we hook our scanner up the Data Link Connector, and with the wiring hooked up improperly, it back feeds into our scanner and ruins the software in it. Recheck your system wiring, and make sure it is compatible with your vehicle.

THE RED SMALL POSITIVE BATTERY FEED WIRE COULD BE BROKEN THAT GOES TO BACK OF ALTERNATOR.CHECK TO SEE IF POWER GOING TO THE WIRE.IT NOT POSITIVE BATTERY SMALL FEED CABLE BROKEN.OR YOU HAVE BLOWN FUSE LINK.IF ALL IS GOOD YOU COULD HAVE PCM PROBLEMS YOUR FIELD CONTROL CIRCUIT PART OF THE PCM CIRCUIT.HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED TO LOOK FOR ALTERNATOR PCM FAULT. AFTER YOU INSTALL NEW ALTERNATOR DONT CRANK THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET A SCANNER AND ERASE TROUBLE CODE FIRST BECAUSE THE PCM THINK OLD ALTERNATOR STILL IN VECHICLE AND WILL CAUSE CHARGING PROBLEMS.

Are you using a code reader or a scanner that you can read data also? If you don't have power to the OBD 2 connector it won't read codes. Usually the lighter fuse also feeds the connector. Does the lighter work?

If the data link is not talking to the computer check your ground at the computer and at the data link connector to see if the computer is even alive ground pin 3 on DLC with the key off then turn key to the run position if it flashes the check engine codes record them, if no engine light, does the engine light come on when you turn the key on then go off? if not, check fuses if not check power for pin on computer, if it has power you have a bad computer. But TEST THE GROUNDS IT IS THE BIGGEST FAILURE For these rigs or any manufacture. check that you have power also at the DLC too. if not you need a digital ohm meter and a subscription to http:///.www.alldatadiy.com and start reading the campaigns on that vechile for computer and trouble tree for dead DLC and computer. I don't have that subscription or I could tell you more where to look, if you need anymore help let me know. Also if the crank sensor could cause it not to run the fuel pump but so can the cam sensor. You need to find out if the computer gets it's pulse for the pump at the computer if it does then you need to test them both. There are three wires a ground a colored power wire and a wire to go to the computer you can test these sensors with a meter to see if there is a pulse to each. sometimes the fuel pump gets it's signal from the coil pack so it's important to have the subscription, you can do a search for each item and test them as needed and has a wiring diagram.

Trying to connect a teekonsha voyager brake control to a 2003 expedition


Their should be a 6 pin conector that only 4 pins are used somtimes a 5th wire is installed for illumination, don't worrie about using that one. The connector is located in one or two different spots, the most popular place is under the dash on the drivers side just below the steering column the connector is grey. The colors are black or red / blue / green / white and sometimes a small black or brown wire is for illumination, don't worrie about that wire. Their are wiring harnasses for sell to hook the brake control through the conector, but if you do not want to buy an adapter hook the wires as followed: Vehicle Brake Control
Black or Red Black
Blue Blue
Green Red
White White
Black is power in to the brake control
Blue is the trailer brake feed
Green is brake signal
White is Ground for the brake control

Number 6 cylinder misfire


That has to be either a bad plug in the number six cylinger, or a bad spark plug wire. First hook the scanner up and erase the code, then turn it back off. Check both ends of the spark plug wire and if they look okay, make sure they are firmly hooked back up.
Hook up the scanner and start the engine. If the code comes back, I would replace the plug at first, then hook your scanner up before the engine is running and erase the code. Then start the engine. If it comes back, then you know the spark plug wire is the culprit.

Note. If you erase the code and it doesn't come right back, don't be elated. It may take driving it a bit before it comes on again.
