2005 Pontiac Sunfire misfiring, check engine light flashing, no power upon acceleration

To clarify what you said, the code is probably for a cylinder miss but the problem may not be ignition as you have found out.
The code means the computer has seen a drop in RPM for one or more cylinders, but not why.
In addition to the ignition system, it could be a fuel injector or compression problem.

Rough engine idle

you don`t say if you have checked anything so start with the plugs for condition and age as well as plug gap.then the ignition wires they may need changing.the engine compression can affect idle and give the impression its alright at higher speeds.fuel injectors if they are dirty can cause rough idle and run okay at higher speeds.just somethings to check

1995 Boneville 3.8 no supercharge. starts and idles fine but when reved up to about 2000 rpm starts missing/backfiring badly.exhaust would become red when reving up.removed cat converter did not look bad...

you need to check the 02 sensor that is on the engine

the converter is probably blocked if it is turning cherry red.

try putting some fuel cleaners in your system like heet from auto zone

you need to make sure the wires are in the right order

make sure there are no breaks in the wire

if you have a check engine light, you should take it to auto zone to get it tested for a better insight
