Does anybody know what happens to the ECM? and if so can they be repaired if you have some knowledge of electronics?

I haven't the money to get a knew one or even a used one. It will be fine for a while then it wont start and I get at least 5 codes. But then It will start later and I will get different codes but all relating to the ecm. Please help. The wife is getting a little on the edgy side. Thank you.

How does one reset the Electronic. control module in a Mazda 160 iE. The fuel pump went defective but is now replaced . Fuse and the relay tested good not defective. Therefore, I suspect the ECM .

When you first turn the key on the fuel pump runs for 2 seconds to prime the system also . PCM does not go into protection mode , no such thing . Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop . You have not the knowledge to fix this ! The PCM will only energize the fuel pump relay when it sees a signal from the crankshaft position sensor ,while cranking the engine or for the two second prime.

How to ask a question.

When asking a technical question regarding vehicular repair, I can only assume that if you are seeking knowledge, you are doing the repairs yourself. This raises a concern with me when the questions asked are vague, lack details as simple as year/make/model/engine size and type, lack correct terminology/spelling, improper references, etc.

That is why there are mechanics. Sometimes a basic, low cost repair can turn into thousands of dollars if done incorrectly. For example, just a simple $2.00 fuse installed incorrectly can do irreversible damage to a $3000.00 ECM or other sensitive electronic component. Inexperience in properly supporting vehicles or securing heavy components can result in property damage, serious injury and possible death.

My advice is based on personal experiences. Many variables can determine your outcome. Advice/information from friends, co workers and research is used whenever I do a repair. I have education I paid for so I assume it to be correct. I use my knowledge as a base and may not have specific experience with your vehicle. I am currently employed as a diesel/refrigeration technician.

Engine surges

you start by having the fault codes read
The ECM records all faulty sensors and by reading the codes you save money by not replacing perfectly good parts
At this point it indicates a problem with the EVAP system that is not venting the tank properly but that is a guess from your statement

Reset button (check mark) on dash of 2007 avalanche is not working. this controls my reset for fuel used, AVG fuel economy, pretty much resetting anything. Anybody had this problem

I haven't seen the problem but the solution is to remove the control panel and have it repaired. Check the net for repair companies that do this type of repair on electronics, they would be ones that doe instrument cluster repairs. There are lots of them out there and local as well. I would contact the GM dealer for one near you that they send the parts out to for repair..

No bus

No bus is a serious problem with the Stratus.. Most cases it's the ECM.. You need to check all your fuses.. Disconnect the battery and let it sit about an hour and turn the key on and off before reconnecting.

Use the remote key lock and lock the doors and unlock with the remote key and try to start..

Probably none of this will work... You'll probably need a ECM.. If it has a security system, the junk yard ones won't work.. It'll fire up and then go dead.. Then the ECM is toast. Seems the Dodge guys figured out a way to defeat anybody working on it.

There is hope. There is a ECM repair place in south Florida that knows how to make the ECM work without having to take it to the dealer. They specialize in Dodge ECM's

Hello girlspy0: My name is Roger and I will help you. Code 34 is related to the MAP sensor. This is usually a repair that requires electronic knowledge. If you think the map sensor is the problem the part is pricey.I would not replace the part for sake of replacing it. Check connection to make sure no wires are broken or pushed out of the terminal socket. The problem could also lie in the ECM or PCM. Should You need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. This way I know if it helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Starting problems at times

The ECU is the computer that, among other things controls electronic fuel injection on your jaguar (great cars).
To test the ecu you need equipment that is not normally for sale for home repairers.
You need to go to a garage, they will connect a flow meter to your engine and computer machine to your electronic board.
Here is something about ECU testing, just for general knowledge information.

Here you can buy replacement ECU, ECM and ECC and check spare price, just in case.
