This is usually caused from over fueling, like high fuel pressure, dirty injectors, not changing oil at proper intervals, poor ignition system and even carbon build up in the cylinders.

How difficult will it be to fix

  • robert wales Apr 19, 2015

if the pressure is too high then it maybe the pressure regulator, if its the dirty injectors they can be cleaned using a fuel system cleaning machine at a shop that has one, change teh oil regularly, how long has it been since a tune up, the fuel system service to clean injectors will also help clean teh cabon build up. if yo have the tools and the knowledge its not too hard.

Hello,
Replacing the sending unit / module is optional when its a metal top module. If it's plastic I would replace the whole thing reguardless.

I have a 1996 chevy blazer replaced the fuel and

No, the fuel pressure valve may be stuck open so that the fuel pressure is too low when you start up, but the pump keeps up after the engine starts...
The fuel pressure valve is draining the fuel back into the fuel tank when the Blazer is parked.
