2008 Trailblazer oil pressure guage at zero but driving fine?

I have a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ 5.3L V8 140,000 km. Two days ago when I started the car and began driving, I noticed the "Check Gauges" light had come on and the oil pressure gauge needle was exactly at 0. I immediately stopped my car and shut down the engine to check the oil level which was absolutely fine. I wasn't sure what to do, so I carefully drove to my destination without any problem. There was no engine power issue or any other noise. There was no engine oil warning light or any message like "oil pressure low" on the driver information center. Everything seems to be fine except the "check gauges" light and the oil pressure gauge reading. I have driven more than 300 km since then. What should I do?

I'd have to agree with Randy here. HOWEVER, if there actually is an oil pressure deficit, you will ruin the engine should you keep running it.

Have the pressure sender tested and replaced at the very least.
Sooner, rather than later.

Replace the oil sending unit. On top of the engine, in the center by the fire wall.

What causes yellow gunk in the oil cap on my 2004 chevy trailblazer

Could be a leaking head gasket or intake gasket.
The gunk is water or coolant. Water if the engine never warms up, coolant if there is a leak.

Hook the pressure guage into the same hole the sending unit is in. If you want to make it permanent put a brass "T" fitting in the hole and hook both to that. Hope this helps.

Normal oil pressure at operating temperature should be around 40 lbs, 30 at an idle. Either you have a bad oil pressure sending unit or you actually have low oil pressure that indicates a serious engine problem.

The oil pressure gauge in my Bronco 2 suddenly dropped to zero after fluctuating from below zero to mid range while accelerating. Checked oil level and was fine. Can I still drive it? About 130 miles away...

You need to verify that you actually have oil pressure before continuing to drive. It may only be the sender or the gauge, but you need to verify oil pressure. The sender is on the right side of the engine block, remove that, pull your coil wire so the engine won't start, and crank it over. If you have oil pressure, oil will squirt out of hole.

The oil pressure gage is reading zero and the oil is full. How can I tell if it is the gage or the oil pump?

It is quite possible that the Oil pressure guage is faulty or else with a zero reading of the oil pressure the engine would have packed out. So removing the valve door will confirm if there is oil flow and confirm the guage. You can also remove the line to the guage and connect the line to a bottle, when the engine starts up the oil pressure will be displayed with a good pressure spray.... but be careful not be spray it all over with a loose joint.
