Could be several things, check for spark at the spark plugs, if ok check fuel pressure and flow if ok, back probe injectors with a led test light, the light should flash while the motor is trying to start. if not check engine fuse.

Clicking noise when no start

your start motor is not rotating, means battery is empty or your start motor bendix is broken and cant rotate your motor then. Let somebody start your car and hit with a hammer on the startmotor, when bendix comes out and car start you need to replace bendix.

I have a 2002 Polo Playa 1.8i. When I turn the key there is no turning of the motor i.e no spark to the starter motor at all. All the electrical things turn on fine but the car wont start. I have to run...

More then likely your starter motor is just out, especially since the rest of your car works fine. If there is simply no attempt from the starter motor to start (clicking or noise), the battery is not completely dead (the electrics work fine) and the car runs once started (run start) then your ignition system (i.e spark plugs, coil alternator and battery) all seem fine except for your starter motor. Only thing to do is replace the starter. Hope I've helped...
