Question about 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Unfamiliar fuses, not sure if they're blown.

Wife crossed terminals when jump starting the car. The engine starts, car runs, but now the service engine light is on. I suspected some blown fuses. I know for certain 2 of the blade fuses are blown. But there are some 'cartridge' fuses with a clear window on the top. I'm unsure to tell if they're blown. I don't see a gap, but they're is a black dot in one, and two of the others have a green tint. Also, there is a 100 amp fuse that looks blown. But some summary googling makes me think that if that was blown, the car wouldn't start. Any tips would be appreciated.

Check the suspected fuses first with an ohm meter for continuity, a fuse can look good but be actually bad, espcially after what happened in your case, i would check and replace as i went, remove the negative battery terminal from battery and let the codes clear then after yu replace the fuses replace the battery terminal to see if it pops any more codes, then go from there

After having had to jump start the battery, the camera and radio don't work. How do you reset it or check to see if something got disconnected when jumped.?

Normally jump starting doesn't involve disconnecting anything. You put the leads from a good battery onto the terminals of the bad battery and start the vehicle. I hope you didn't put the good battery on, start the vehicle and remove the battery with the engine still running and connect the old one? That is a recipe to cause electrical damage as the charge from the alternator has nowhere to dissipate its excess amps.

Check your fuses.

Crossed battery terminals on 86 Toyota pickup change 80 amp fuse and other fuses under dash got lights, dashlight cranks over but won't start what could it be? It run perfect before crossing terminals

There is a distinct possibility that you fried the PCM/ECM. They are very sensitive to that sort of thing. If you popped an 80A fuse, you sent massive reverse current through the system. You may need the help of an auto electric shop to recover from this one.

VW beetle 2003 won't start. nothing not a click

Check to make sure the master fuse hasn't blown. It's rather large and should be located next to the fuse box. Also, make sure you don't have a broken battery cable. With an ohm meter, check both the positive and negative cables. You should only see a few ohms of resistance. If you see a really high number or it indicates that it is open, replace the cable. I hope this helps! :)

Jaguar 1998 XJ8 radio won't turn on

Radios are sensitive to polarity, it will have to be taken out for repair, If it's the type with a fuse on the back of the set, it may have just blown that? If not it will have blown a polarity protect diode. Repair centre I'm afraid.

My 1990 mercury grand marquis was boosted wrong

Might need to check the main circuits for a blown fuse or fuseable link.
There is a fuse wire between the alternator and battery.

My daughter car battery went dead had a jump start but her cousin put the leads on the wrong terminal could this have blown the main fuse as no lights at all put new battery on today

Yes this will defiantly blow the main engine fuse. This fuse is located in the engine compartment and is usually bolted down with 10mm bolts.

Hi, your starter circuit is pasted below. Check the crank and ignition fuses in the box under the hood. If those are good, see if the solenoid will jump by connecting the hot terminal to the start terminal as indicated in the following post: http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over
If the engine will crank, the problem is in the start circuit--ignition switch, start relay, or safety interlock. If it will not crank, suspect you are a missing ground strap. Since you had the top off the engine, this is the most likely problem, depending on where you ground attaches to the engine.
As for the fuel pump, this could also be a ground issue or a fuse. Suggest we get the engine cranking and then worry about fuel if the pump is still not coming on.
Can you check the fuses and jump the solenoid (tranny in park, please) and then get back to me with results?

I happen to cross terminal the battery while i was trying to jump start the car, have change the fuse , but the engine light is on and the car won't rev.

Check for the code on the computer to see if there is a code set for a particular system.

A 2005 Toyota Corolla would use an obd-II scanner to retrieve codes.

Something may have burnt out in addition to the fuse when the wires were crossed when jump starting.

No engine start or any windo raido head lights nothing

Couple of things could be wrong. I would first try to have someone jump start your car, if it stays on, probably your battery, if it does not stay on, probably your alternator. Batteries you can get just about anywhere, just bring in your old one when you make your purchase to make sure its the correct one. Alternators can run you $90 - $150 depending on engine size, new or remfurbished. Check with your local auto parts store. Also, check your fuses (under the hood and inside) and make sure your battery terminals / clamps are clean. Hope this is helpful. Good luck!
