Why does 2006 GMC Yukon XL Denali start and immediately die? It hits on about 4 cylinders and then dies. I can do it repeatedly over and over.

Most parts stores can test the ignition module, but not 100% accurate. Coils can be tested with ohm meter, but any electrical part of this type can pass a static test and still fail in use as it heats up. Your symptoms are so instant tests should show the bad part.

Do you have any lights lit on the dash , SECURITY , check engine ? I wouldn't think fuel pump fuse , if it were bad it would start at all ! Sounds like anti-theft system problem !
The theft deterrent system has been incorporated into the body control module (BCM). The theft deterrent is provided in order to prevent vehicle operation if the correct key is not used in order to start the vehicle. The ignition key turns the lock cylinder. The cylinder rotation produces an analog voltage code in the Passlock?"¢ sensor. This voltage code is received by the BCM. The BCM compares the voltage code to the previously learned voltage code. If the codes match, a class 2 message is sent from the BCM to the powertrain control module (PCM)/vehicle control module (VCM). The message enables the fuel injectors.

55 psi fuel pressure. According to what I've found that is within spec. How do I check the ignition module / coil?

SOURCE: location of fuse box/panel for 2004 yukon denali xl

There are 2 fuse panels in the Denali.
One is a panel on the drivers side, its on the dash but facing the door.

The ohter is under the dash and above the pedals, this one is much tougher to access.

Your Owner's Manual should tell you where the fuses are that you need to access.

SOURCE: 2004 Yukon XL Denali fuel gauge fluctuations

Your sending unit for the guage is part of your fuel pump in the tank. But first try your fuel pump relay, may be working intermittenly when you hit a bump or something. Or possibly a loose wire somewhere along the way. Much less expensive (worth a look).

SOURCE: 2006 GMC Yukon Denali XL Rear Hatch & Glass locks not working

Could be the latch mechanism for the door is sticking. You could try using some white grease on the latch and the contact where the latch hooks to. You can purchase the grease from most auto parts stores. You will not need to use alot. Just apply a small amount to the mechanisim and then work it in using the manual handle. Then open and close the door several times to feel the "action". Then apply a little more and repeat. This should loosen the latch and get it working again. Also make sure that none of the tension springs have come loose on the latch. And check the seal around the door and make sure it is not pinched and has a proper fit.

2003 gmc yukon denali xl starts but gas not flowing engine could it be a loose gas cap or fuel pump. Fuel filter changed. Also what does service ride control mean Singlemom03

if your engine starts up and dies right away the you probably have a fuel pump problem and the service ride control mean that your air ride compressor has gone bad just turn your key to the on position and wait about 30 seconds you will here buzzing from the left rear wheel area if the compressor is working

We had the same issue with our 2007 Yukon Denali XL. Died on us twice after sitting for short periods of time; once we watched a DVD with the engine off and battery died within 10 minutes. The dealership kept it overnight to troubleshoot why the battery died so quickly. They said the radio was "pulling" too much from the battery. (They supposably fixed it) But again a few days later the battery died again after sitting overnight. We brought it back to the dealership and they brought in a GMC "expert" to replace the entire DVD/CD/Navigation system. They also replaced our battery with a much larger battery, similar to the ones that GMC puts in there diesel trucks. They had our Denali for 5 days, but it appears to be fixed now.
Getting it fixed correctly wasn't without headaches, but it was all covered under warranty, including the battery. And they are updating the nav w/ the new edition disc as well for no charge.
