If it is random, it may be a bad clock spring.
Why wont my airbag light go off?
Go to see an auto-electrician if the airbag light still won't turn off. A worn-out clock spring inside your airbag's control module, a dead backup airbag battery, or a corroded terminal inside the airbag system are commonly the reasons why the airbag light is illuminating. In rare cases, your airbag may need to be serviced.

Your airbag light staying on is telling u there is an issue with the airbag system. This type of repair should be taken to a qualified service center to be repaired. An accidental airbag deployment could cause severe injuries and possibly death. Unless u are a qualified service tech I would not attempt airbag repairs.
If the airbag light is on, there is a failure in the airbag circuit, and your airbag may fail to deploy in the event of an accident.
There is no "reset." You will need to have your airbag system serviced.
Airbag systems should never be worked on by consumers who are not professionals with the Airbag system. You will need to take the vehicle in to the dealership to have the Airbag system professionally serviced, and to avoid problems with your insurance company. Airbag systems are very delicate, and consists of crash sensors in various points on the vehicle, as well as a system of wires, and an Airbag computer module. Usually the Airbag light comes on if the system has been activated, or become faulty. Once again, never work on the Airbag system yourself, take it to the dealership to have it serviced.
The service engine soon light will not be relate to the airbag light. You will need to have your obd3 Diagnostic Trouble Codes read Most auto parts stores will do this for you. This will also pinpoint the cause of your SES light. If your bags have not been deployed you can have the control module reset at www.myairbags.com for a reasonable price.
You need to take this to a shop and have the airbag system repaired as that light is indicating a fault in the airbag deployment system. The service Engine soon light could be nothing more that a reminder to change the oil but is most likely an Oxygen sensor that needs replaced.
First of all you need to get this problem fixed ASAP. While the airbag light is illuminated, your SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module aka: the brain of your airbag system) shuts of power to the airbags. In which, if you are in an accident your airbags will not deploy while this light is illuminated. You need to take your vehicle to a GM dealership. A Tech 2 scantool is needed to retrieve the code from the SDM. Hopefully it won't be a costly repair, but is something that defineatly needs to be corrected soon. Good luck and hope all works well.
This is either a problem with one or both of your airbags or the airbag connector located at the back of the glovebox has been disconnected for some reason. (ie. to prevent airbag opening when installing baby seat) (1999 miata does not have a baby seat airbag disabling sensor).
You should get your car inspected at your local mazda service to check if this is a wiring (plug disconnected) issue or one of your airbags is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.
Flashing airbag light could indicate that either one of the airbags or both have a problem. Disconnecting the passenger's airbag has the same effect.
Warning! Do NOT attempt to do any kind of airbag/airbag wiring related repair yourself. Airbag problems should be addressed ONLY by certified technicians at your local Mazda service. (Airbag fixing requires for example that the car battery is disconnected, you MUST NOT attempt anything with the car battery connected).
