Dash lights go off then come back why

You might have a bad ground connection. If the battery black ground cable is not connecting to the car frame you will have crazy problems. Look up a wireing diagram for your car, there are several ground cables. Rust and corrosion will get them. With bad ground, Power goes backwards thru all kinds of places.

While driving my 2007 Dodge Charger my dash lights will go crazy and my gauges will go crazy

Check battery connection for looseness.... test your alternator. could be going bad, or you have a ground wire short which has to be traced, usually by a mechanic only.

08 Cobalt starts and idles but the dash starts blinking and going crazy the rpms and mph gages start going up and down and it doesnt want to shift

There should be ground wires going to the transmission. Check these. loose connections at the bolts and bad wires. Just a note. these wires come from the engine control module, which controls all you are talking about.

The s flashing in my dash board

the s/p button changes the shift points,
normal is mpg (early shifts)
sports is later shift, faster accel, and lower MPG
if the lamp and seat of pants says the trans is stuck in Sport
mode then it is, as it seems...
so the switch is bad or the wire to it, from TCM to switch
using a voltmeter finds this out fast, go one?
keyon, no start.
connect meter to switch, does the voltage change from 0v
to 5 or 12v, when switched, no then the switch is bad.
if a 0v all the time the switch is bad or the line (wire shorted to body)
remove wire. (hot side not ground) and does the voltage rise over 5v
then the switch is shorted.
what we do is check both pins on the switch, one is ground
other is signal, if it dont change with the switch action we fine out why
ask how.
0v. all time, switch shorted or wire shorted to body
>5v all the time, wire cut, switch broken in the open position.
0v to high volts with switch action is good.

2000 CARAVAN WONT START AFTER DASH REMOVAL TO REPLACE EVAPORATOR CORE. After put everything back on and tried to start it, the only thing i get is clicking noises from under the dash and under the hood...

In my experience with problems similar to this, when nothing makes any sense at all, it has most often been a ground that was left off or pulled loose by accident.

some times you can find these by getting a jumper wire and grounding one end, and touching the other end to the wiring harness ground points.

A ground is common to many electrical components under the dash. this is why a loose ground could affect so many different things at the same time.

Hope this helps

My 2003 Neon Gages going crazy all dashboard lights are on

same thing happened to me, with a 2003 neon sxt..... but tranny went into error and wouldn't shift out of first til i reset the engine error, tranny and gages were fine (til it got cold). i had to warm the car up, reset the error to go anywhere. i was told it was the drivetrain computer. but i'm still checking other things.

I have a chevy monte carlo, 95 ls. The tranny just started going crazy, shifting improperly, staying in one gear. I thought it wus def a trans problem till i noticed that the speedometer was going crazy...

how is the plug for the speed sensor? make sure the pins are clean and check the ground. Ohm out the harness all the way back to the computer, checking to see if jiggling wires changes the reading.

All dash lights on

Many times, When electrics act up. it has to do with a ground problem. Fuses must be good you have power. Auto electrics like to have a single wire running to the device and then depend on a ground near by to grounded steel instead of a return wire. Loose grounds have no return and the device acts crazy and will be erratic, and not act properly. No where for the electricity to go. Eliminate the possibility of bad or missing grounds first, then get out an electric volt ohm meter, Start checking voltage, and eliminating things that have proper and constant voltage. Then look for bad devices. Just trying to save you some money. Electrical Trouble shooting can be time consuming and expensive. You can do it. lbreen

I had a trailer hooked up and it shorted out now i can't shift out of park. and the abs light is blinking.

Check your ground wire where you spliced the harness together. Sounds like either you have a "hot" wire, either tail light or blinker, or stop grounded out, or the ground you used is not making a good connection. Try grounding it to where your gas tank braided ground wire is locate.

If this doesnt work, I would suggest unsplicing the harness, tape it back up or heat shrink it and buy the new T-connector with tap off for your 7 way plug. Should run you about $27.

A bad ground will cause your dash to go crazy sometimes, because the indicator lights on the dash are not isolated from the trailer when you splice it directly.

Hope this helps.
