Shifts hard after driving a while

I am assuming you have high mileage and it is probably starting to wear out and will need a rebuild soon. You can take it to any auto parts store to get a computer reading and see if a transmission code got thrown up to the computer. Occasionally a relay will go bad in the transmission but if you're around 200,000 +/- 50K then you are in the possible realm of rebuild. Especially if you didn't flush your transmission fluid every 75k miles. You can use a siphon pump and pump out a quart of oil and put a quart of Lucas transmission oil to buy you some time and smooth out that hard shift a little bit(This is assuming its not completely shot yet). I had a chevy truck that had the 4l60e transmission, I could tell it shifted a little rough but couldn't do a flush because I could tell there was too much fiber in the fluid and the transmission would go if I flushed it. I put Lucas in it then at 170k, smoothed out the hard shifting significantly and I finally rebuilt the transmission at 230k. Its not a miracle in a bottle but if you catch the issue early, it can give you some extra mileage out of it like my extra 50K.

2002 mercury moutianeer overdrive light blinking not shifting

I hate to say it but your transmission is probably soon to go out. Does it shift hard? How many miles are on the transmission? Was the transmission ever serviced? Take it to a trusted mechanic and have them look at it and ask if a flush will take care of it or if it needs rebuilt. Remember to make sure the mechanic is trustworthy. You could just do a flush and see if that fixes it but if you have a lot of miles on it a flush can cause more damage to the transmission.

When my 1998 plymouth grand voyager runs a long time the transmission starts to have a hard time shifting or not shifting at all until it cools down.

How many miles? I'm guessing 150k atleast. A complete transmission flush/pan filter is probably your only option. Other than that, it is mechanical and needs to be rebuilt or the torque converter replaced, etc. Basically, if the flush/pan filter doesn't work, you probably need a new vehicle.

1997 Ford Ranger 4.0L 4x4 with an AOD transmission. It has a hard shift from a dead stop, 1st to 2nd, fine from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. Occaisionally another hard shift into overdrive. Also seems to...

Honestly, while there is a chance that there is a bigger problem, it sounds more like its time for a transmission service. Hard thunking shifts when starting or stopping with no other apparent symptoms on older vehicles can usually be corrected by a transmission flush. if you pull out your tranny dipstick and the fluid is any darker than bright red and/or smells burnt (smell should make you cringe a bit) then take it to a shop and get it flushed out. I recommend a service center that uses a BG power flush unit. These services seem expensive on the surface but only have to be done about once every 3 years and can prevent more costly and involved repairs down the road.

You are going to need a transmission shop. Mazdas do not always throw codes. You have an early OBD transmission, which do not send out many codes.
