Question about 1999 Pontiac Montana

1 Answer

Received code p0452 from my code reader. No engine light came on.

Had to keep foot on gas pedal or car would shut off. It is never parked inside, but left the car in a garage for 5 days while I was out of town. What could be the problem?

Code p0452 refers to evaporative emission ( EVAP) pressure sensor--low input ===causes wiring short to ground--EVAP pressure sensor---ECM
check for wiring problems from chewed wires form leaving it unattended
check replace the pressure sensor.

With or without your foot on the brake pedal? Did you have the ECU scanned for codes? You can have diagnostic codes in the ECU without having a light.

Code P0452 keeps coming up and the check engin light is on

P0452 is related to the Evaporative Emissions Control system and has nothing to do with the 4WD system.
The P0452 may be something as simple as a loose or bad gas cap.
The 4WD system is somewhat complicated and requires more diagnostics.

Engine revs but no acceleration

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. Or one of the CV joints is detached from the gear box. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

Engine wont start, unless I push the gas pedal and keep my foot on it.?

Could be a dirty throttle body, or a stuck idle air control valve.
Is the check engine light staying on now ?

I have a 97 astro awd chevrolet and when i puy my foot on the gas peddle i hear air coming from the dash board

The part is called the vaccum booster control unit its the power assist for your brakes and is feed from the engine main vacuum . How do the brakes work do you get a surge when you shut the vehicle off while shifting to park with your foot still on the brake pedal The gas pedal would have nothing to do with a vacuum noise from the dash. The olny thing it could would be the booster control unit is leaking engine vacuum. The master brake cylinder it mounted to it under the hood and the brake pedal on the inside is derictly connected to it . It cost like 50 bucks if you get one from a junk yard and the brake lines don't need to be disconneced so you have 6 nuts to remove and the pedal clip for the brake pedal

3.0L 2000 DODGE CARAVAN SHUTS DOWN WHEN STOPPING AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. NO LIGHTS ON DASH - NO ENGINE LIGHT. TURN KEY OFF AND RESTARTS OK. MUST KEEP FOOT ON GAS PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL TO KEEP ENGINE...

it sounds like it is starving for fuel, the fuel filter may be clogging up. when a fuel filter gets dirty and cuts some of the flow of fuel, it will stall out at stops. because the engine does not have the proper amount of fuel to keep it running. have a good day !
