Question about 2007 Hyundai Elantra

1 Answer

Why is there a loud clunking sound from rear right side when accelerating after car has been parked for hours ?

The clunk noise happens only once right on the first acceleration following engine ignition, going backward or forward. Afterwards, while driving accelerating and braking continuously, the sound doesn't happen again. Sound seems to be coming from rear right suspension area. Right rear brake is squeaking when releasing brake pedal and right rear suspension seems to be squeaking as well when going over speed bumps.

Struts noise?

I would tend to believe it's more likely a worn sway bar bushing or link if it's a rattle or a small clunk, if it's a loud clunk probably a strut, try bouncing he back of the car when parked, if you get the clunk probably a strut if only when driving, turning, braking probably just a bushing on the sway bar
