The ignition switch on steerin colum has problems. The key lock too. Its complex wiring. May need an xperiencd mech

Hello, It sounds to me that you have a hot wire from the battery hooked up to the starter solenoid by mistake.

Really shouldn't be bad, you will have to get underneath the vehicle, but once you're there, its basically disconnecting the posotive and negative wires, and 2 to 3 bolts holding it in the motor, after that, its just the reverse procedure for installation, make sure you disconnect the battery before hand, the 12v can give you a good wake up call. i have been having problems with my 2001 pontiac grand am se 2.4 it has been jerking n skipping i put it on a comp at advanced auto parts i got this reading map\boro\circut high output and torque converter circut stuck on i need to know what the problems r and how to fix them i think the first one is a map sensor but i dont know about the torque converter circut can someobne help me i am gonna try n save some money and fix it myself if i can find out what these r and how to go about fixingt them

most likley the positive wire has corroded off the starter. look at the small red wire more closely, if theres alot of corosion, replace the wire (and starter if needed) if you dont see much corrosion give the wire a good tug just to see if it really is hooked up well. you should disconnect the batt. before doing any of this.hope this helps and good luck

Had this yesterday on a 94 Voyager we were given. Disconnected the starter power wire (follow the red wire from the battery down). Cleaned terminal on starter, re-attached, started fine
