Question about Cars & Trucks

Car runs fine under a load but it sometimes has an engine misfire when I'm at a stop lite. Spark plugs and all air filters replaced 10,000 miles ago.

A retired auto mechanic scanned the engine and said it could be the oil level sensor. Where is it located on a caddy 2007 3.6L?

Did you use factory recommended spark plugs sometimes running cheaper plugs and sometimes more expensive plugs can cause more problems like changing heat range i would if you didn't run the factory recommended spark plug could also look into oil sender but doesn't seem likely i could seem failing crank sensor causing these symptoms or cam sensor

Look for wires going to oil pan or just above it. That would be the oil level sensor.

I had my 2006 Hyundai Sonata serviced two days ago. Had front brakes pads replace, power steering flushed, replaced front valve cover gasket and replace spark plugs, engine filter changed. Car drove fine...

that is just a basic 10,000 km service
check engine light on
undo battery terminals count ten reconnect
clears the codes
if check engine light returns
the code will be stored in the ecu

description sounds like an 02 sensor

I have a misfire with no eng light on car runs crappy then runs good then crappy

what year car?
what location, ? many engines used world wide.
how many miles on car? 60k or 600k?

ever do a full tune up, if not why not?
spark plugs, filters. read the operator guide, its in the glove box.
misfire is complex and 50 ways to get it.
but can be broken down to.
1: lost engine compression.
2: bad spark (tune up)
3: bad fueling (tune ups replace fuel and air filters. so...)

The PO 316 is still misfires om first 1000 revolutions
so the shop did a poor job for you on resolveing the
cylinder misfires

Try a diffferent shop

Have to clean the MAF Sensor & replace upstream
oxygen sensors if over 100,000 miles

Need the correct oem spark spark plugs/any brand

No reason the gas filter should be clogged unless it was in
the car for 10 years

Fuel pressure should be checked

Need to check for cylinder misfires on a road test of 20
miles or more with professional software in Mode#06

Car stalled and will not restart

It is possible to have fuel pressure and have injectors that are completely closed. There are light testers that plug into the injector harness to check the pulse to open an injector. Available at autoparts with Tool loaner program.

Try starting fluid to see if it wants to run, If it does, then injectors are not opening, then find cause like camshaft sensor. At that point, like other Expert said, it could be Vacuum leak.

Will not turn over can mean several things. Is it cranking? Is it engaging and not moving the engine? If the starter is not moving then you have to go through the interlocks with brake pedal and shifter. But these work after the engine runs and would not cause it to stall.

Try the starting fluid and see if the spark is working, then shift to fuel delivery if it tries to start.

Intermittent misfiring

Had the same thing. The didtributor was going bad. Lived with it for a few months finally it died. 1 year after replacing the distributor the problem started again. Glad I got a warranty on the distributor. Running great now on the second distributor.

P0303 cylinder three misfire

Running out of gas causes the scum in the bottom of your gas tank to be fed to you engine. I replace the fuel filter every 30000 miles. You might have allowed scum into one of you injectors. Try replaceing that spark plug first.Dont run out of gas.

1999 Town Car began running very rough - suddenly.

When cleaning your engine, water/degreaser went down the spark plug ports. Try using a air compressor blow gun to remove the moisture from around the spark plugs and boots. The water was causing the engine to misfire on 3 cylinders at first and as the ports started to evaporate the moisture, the less misfiring was occuring. Dry thouroughly and hopefully coils do not have damage to them. Also check to make sure the boot is making good contact with the spark plug.
